The Opening of Publix in Boone

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at App State chapter.

The wait was finally over.

On Wednesday, April 5, the highly anticipated opening of Publix took place. Although I get excited over many different things, I wasn’t as excited as everyone else for this grand opening because I had been to a Publix once before, so I kind of knew what to expect.

One of my friends talked me into going with her on Wednesday night to go explore the new grocery store. I honestly think college students were more excited for this opening than a kid on Christmas morning. As we walked in, we were automatically greeted with warm welcomes and smiling faces. This was continuous throughout the whole shopping experience. Of course, the store was super busy, as to be expected.

The first stop was the bakery/deli where we got our first free sample of many. The bakery looked and smelled heavenly from all of the cupcakes and cannolis. The next cool thing was the fact that they have a soup bar, which also smelled wonderful. There was even a dining area included where customers can sit down and enjoy their food.

The free samples really won me over. I mean, who doesn’t love free food?

I have to admit, every sample that I tried was tasty and left me wanting more, such as their organic ice cream! I could also tell while wandering through the store that this grocery store is trying to sell more products catered to a healthier lifestyle, which I love!

The wide variety of food and products available was just impressive in general and the prices seem reasonable. Everything in the store was so neat and aesthetically pleasing! You could definitely tell there was a lot of time and effort put into the store before the opening.

Overall, I think that the praise was well deserved and I look forward to shopping at Publix in the future!
