Meet our Her Campus President, Kaitlyn Reavis! A senior here at Appalachian State, Kaitlyn is certainly making the most of her final year. While taking on various leadership positions, planning her upcoming wedding, and finishing up her degree in public relations with a minor in political science; it is clear that she has a lot on her plate. Yet, she somehow manages to do it all with the love and support from the people in her life who mean the most.
After graduation, Kaitlyn aspires to go to grad school for Political Communication. Although she does not know what she wants to do with that yet, she hopes to one day make a difference in the local politics of her hometown Burlington, North Carolina. The long-term dream? To earn a doctorate degree and teach at a college campus. There is no doubt she is capable of doing so.
Serving as Her Campus President and Campus Co-Correspondent along with being the President of Ducks Unlimited’s App State Chapter, Kaitlyn exhibits leadership qualities and a drive to produce the best outcomes possible for her organizations and her fellow members.
So where does she get all the motivation and passion to conquer it all? She owes most of her inspiration to her high school sweetheart and fiance, James. Having been together for five years, planning to get married a week after their six year anniversary, she admits that he is her best friend. Kaitlyn has loved having James throughout her college years, knowing she did not miss out on single thing because she has been in a relationship. She believes this is something a lot of college students actually miss out on. His love and support has not only inspired her writing but has given her motive to succeed in every aspect of her life. She couldn’t imagine doing life with anyone else.
It is not only James that has played a key role in her life, but her parents as well. As an only child, she is super close with both of her parents. She and her parents are the three best friends anybody could have, which is something not many people can say about their relationship with their Mom and Dad.
And how could we not mention her love for dogs? Kaitlyn admits she is an actual dog lady. Her and James are the proud owners of their lab puppy, Nelly. In addition to Nelly, there are five other special dogs in her life at her parent’s house. “I honestly don’t think people do anything to deserve the love that dogs give us,” she states.
In the midst of pursuing all of her goals, she hopes to keep up with writing because she finds it to be one of the best outlets in life (along with binge watching The Office or One Tree Hill on Netflix, of course).
