Meet the Her Campus App State 2016 Graduates

Graduation is quickly approaching, and we want to thank the ten beautiful Her Campus App State senior members who will be graduating this year! Read about each of their times at Appalachian and their plans for the future! 

 

Megan Brody 

Megan is graduating with a degree in public relations and a minor in sociology. In her time at ASU, she has been a member of Alpha Omicron Pi, Baptist Campus Ministry (BCM), PRSSA, Her Campus, and American Sign Language Club. Following graduation, she will be attending Gardner-Webb University for their clinical mental health counseling masters program. Her favorite memory from App is living with her best friend Faith her sophomore year in Frank Hall. Together the two of them had countless dance parties and would belt their favorite songs by Justin Bieber, One Direction, Beyonce and The Jonas Brothers. She admits that they likely spent more time dancing and laughing in the 4-1-8 than they did working on homework or studying. 

 

Kendall McGee

Kendall is graduating from the journalism program here at App. While here, she has been involved in App Speaks, Panorama Planning Committee, and Her Campus. After graduation she is moving to Charlotte where she will pursue a job in TV news. Her favorite memory from Appalachian was her first football game as a student. She grew up going to App games as a child since her parents are alumni. However, her first game marked the beginning of her own time here. She recalls that it was a beautiful day, the stands were packed and she finally felt like a mountaineer of her own. 

 

Amber Layfield

Amber is graduating with degrees in psychology and criminal justice. This summer, she will be doing an internship at SafeLight in Hendersonville, a nonprofit victim services organization. Her favorite memory from App was recently when she and her best friend Dani got new ear piercings, participated in the out of the darkness walk to support suicide prevention and break the stigmas surrounding mental health. Following, they headed to Snake Mountain for a hike! 

 

Erin Mckenzie

Erin will be graduating with a degree in public relations. In her time at App, she participated in Her Campus and Sigma Kappa. After graduation, she will be a Technical Recruiter for TEK systems in Madison, Wisconsin. She has too many memories here to pinpoint her favorite, but most of them have been in apartment 10 from the past four years. 

 

Amanda Ullman

Amanda is graduating with a degree in journalism. She is a member of AOII, order of omega, and Her Campus. After graduating, she is hoping to get a marketing position in Charlotte and living with her big and grandbig. Her favorite memory is conquering her fear of the unknown and coming to App with no friends, learning the city and meeting people throughout her time here. 

 

Jennifer Kline

Jennifer will be graduating with a degree in apparel design and merchandising with a minor in advertising. She has been involved Lambda Pi Eta Communication Honor Society, Delta Zeta, The Appalachian, and Her Campus. After graduation, she will be staying at App State and attending the clinical mental health counseling masters program with a certification in addictions counseling. Her favorite memory was when she studied abroad in Poland for a month with fifteen other App students. 

 

Katy Huis

Katy is graduating with a degree in elementary education and a minor in special education. She has been a member of Chi Omega and SDAP in her time at ASU. Following graduation, she will be student teaching in Ireland. Her favorite memory was when she walked onto the football field this fall on a Thursday night football game and became Homecoming Queen. 

 

Rachele Anthony 

Rachele is a graduating with a degree in public relations and a minor in marketing. She has been involved in Her Campus and Alpha Omicron Pi. After graduation, she will be moving back to her charming hometown of Maiden, NC. She plans on spending a lot of time with family and friends at the lake and running with her dog, Suzy. Her favorite memory at App is being able to study in a drinking town with a football problem!

 

Taylor Rhodes

Taylor will be graduating with a degree in Exercise Science. In her time at Appalachian, she has been involved in Her Campus, Exercise Science Club and coaching cross country and track at Watauga high school. Her favorite memory from App is hiking and experiencing the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains. After graduation, she will be moving to San Francisco, CA to be a flight attendant for United Airlines. 

 

Kaitlan Morehouse

Kaitlan will be graduating with a degree in English and a concentration in professional writing. In her time at Appalachian, she has been involved in Sigma Tau Delta International English Honors Society, Tau Sigma International Transfer Honor Society, Her Campus, Hall Council and RHA, The Women’s Center and The Appalachian. After graduation, she plans to head home and search for jobs. After some time off from school, she plans to go to graduate school. Some of her favorite memories from Boone are those cooler nights and late afternoons when it wasn’t too late, and she would walk back to her residence hall from Sanford Mall, admiring the beauty around her. 

Taylor is a senior at Appalachian State University studying Exercise Science with a concentration in clinical physiology. She has asperations of becoming an Occupational Therapist and working to rehabilitate people with disabilities. She enjoys the outdoors, adventures, and traveling.
