Q: When did you all start playing together? What brought you together?

All: January 2014Brad: Corey and I have played and written together for a long time.  Glenn: Then Corey and I moved in together last year, and Billy is my cousin and I knew he played bass, so we all kind of came together then.

Q: How did you come up with Chrome Scene as the band’s name?A: Brad: I had a previous band, and wanted to name it Chrome Scene. The members didn’t like it, so I just suggested it when the four of us got together.

Q: What band or artist has inspired you all as a whole/individually?All: Aqua, Modest Mouse and the Strokes. We take influence from everything really, even some hip hop artists, like Outkast.

Q: What kind of music do you want to make? Any special messages or audiences you want to target? All: We’re still in the process of forming our sound, and now that we’ve played together for a while, we’ve found our sound. Right now, it’s just for the fun and good vibes. Eventually we will be writing stuff to get deeper. Music is about fun.

Q: Where has been your favorite place to play in Boone? All: BlackCat

Q: Who writes the songs? All: We’re as collective as possible; we individually write stuff and bring it in and see where it takes us.Billy: Brad’s a real poet, too.

Q: Where do you get your inspiration for the music? All: We really just draw off our emotions. It’s easy to express how we feel through a sound, you can get anything out, whether it’s good or bad.

Q: If you could pick a cause or philanthropy to play for to raise awareness, what would it be?All: Michael J Fox Foundation, for Parkinson’s Research. If we ever made a bunch of money we would donate a lot there, there’s no way we would be selfish if we were making big money.

Q: If you could play anywhere in the world, where would it be?All: Red Rocks.Billy: Playboy Mansion Halloween party.Glenn: anywhere in South America.

Q: What’s your favorite song to perform? All: All of them really, if they weren’t fun to play why would we have written them? It also just depends on the mood of the night. If we had to pick, probably Break The Ice.

Q: If you could get a record deal with any record company, which would it be?All: Cult Records. We would get to be produced with one of our biggest inspirations (the Strokes), which would be awesome.

Q: Do you have any pre-show rituals? All: Not really. We like to get mad and yell at each other, and end up running around to find a cord and freaking out over little details. Same thing, different day, but we love it.

Q: Do you have any upcoming shows? All: November 7th at Black Cat.

Q: What’s been the biggest obstacle for the band?A: Sleep deprivation and being dysfunctional in the studio. We don’t get a lot of sunlight. Balancing this with school–it’d be great to just do this all the time. The expenses, too; we started off with pretty crappy equipment and are slowly working our way up.
