Lush Product Review: The Comforter Shower Cream

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at App State chapter.

I am a huge Lush fan, and I just have to start out by saying there is nothing of theirs that I have tried and did not like. The Comforter shower cream is a little different from your typical shower gel. It is a little more runny and is a completely different consistency from your normal body wash.

The shower cream is a blend of cassis and fair trade vanilla with a hint of black currant. The smell is very strong, so if you like something a little more subtle, this product may not be for you.

This bottle of greatness is full of a bright purple-y pink and sparkly mixture that leaves your skin smooth as silk. It contains vitamin-rich almond oil, which makes it good for your skin too!

An important point to keep in mind is that this product is a shower cream and not a shower gel. The difference between a shower gel and a shower cream is that the gel will lather more, but the cream is more nourishing and moisturizing for your skin.

The biggest highlight of this product is that it is fair trade. This means that it is made with the world’s first certified fair trade vanilla absolute. The vanilla absolute is from Western Uganda near the Rwenzori mountains.

The first time I used The Comforter, I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed it! The smell was a little strong for me at first, but it is not a lingering strong smell. It is a little thin, but it makes it easier to lather up for a nice wash. The formula really hydrated my skin and made it very smooth, and I paired it with the Sympathy For the Skin hand and body lotion. It lasts for quite a while, but you may need to shake it up every couple times you use it because the cream base and the actual soap tend to separate sometimes.

The only downside to this wonderful shower cream is the color is very bright and it can stain your tub or shower, as well as your loofah, or anything it comes in contact with. It won’t stain your skin, but everything else is fair game to be stained. Just make sure you rinse your loofah and your shower out really well, unless you want it to be pink!

This shower cream is based off of one of Lush’s best sellers: The Comforter bubble bar. Since it was so popular, Lush decided to make it into a shower cream. Hopefully this means they are planning on cranking out more products in this line soon!

The Comforter ranges from $9.95 to $29.95 depending on how big of a container you get. It comes in three sizes: 3.3 fl oz, 8.4 fl oz, and 16.9 fl oz. If you try it, you will not be disappointed! All you have to do is put some on a loofah and lather up! Rinse, repeat if you want to, and enjoy!
