Does he look familiar? You’ve probably seen Ish Gomez arond campus before. It could be argued that he’s one of the most involved guys at App. Though he’s probably best known for being the chair of Club Council. Get to know him!

Q: What’s a typical day in the life of a club council chair?
A:
A typical day for me involves waking up around 8:30am. Then I
-Get ready.
-Walk to class.
-Attend classes.
-Grab lunch
-Attend my afternoon meetings; usually a 1-1 with Kim Mitchell
-Do my office hours.
-Answer any emails.
-Attend and run the Club Council meeting
-Go home
-Make Dinner
-Shower
-Do homework
-Plan my next day
-Go to bed

Q: How did you first get involved with club council?

A: I first became involved with Club Council when I was a freshman. My friend, Kyle, informed me that they had an opening on Club Council so I applied for the open spot. After I interviewed, I became extremely involved in this organization. I have been a part of this club for about 3.5 years now.

Q: What else are you involved with on campus?

A: I am currently involved with my fraternity, Phi Gamma Delta. Other organizations I have been a part of are: The Student Conduct Board, SGA, SOUL, Appol Corps, and the Emerging Leaders Program.

Q: What made you want to run for chair of club council?

A: I wanted to run for Club Council Chair, because I wanted to make positive change. Not many people knew what Club Council was about. Therefore, my goal as Club Council Chair has been to make the student population more aware of the events this organization hosts every year. This year compared to last year, we have had a bigger student attendance.

Q: What’s one piece of advice you would give to the next chair?

A: When dealing with other student leaders, it is important to be as patient as possible. Yes, I know that sounds corny, but it is true. There are a lot of different types of student leaders out there, and as Chair of Club Council, you will have to interact with every type of leader that there exist.
