The Definition of Humble and Kind: Meet Jordan Gross

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at App State chapter.

Jordan Gross is a senior public relations major with a religious studies minor from Winston Salem, NC. On campus she is involved with Zeta Tau Alpha, Panhellenic Council, Public Relations Student Society of America, and the Communications Honor Society. Now, Jordan has one more thing to add to the list and that is she was a candidate for Appalachian State’s Top of the Rock 2016.

Jordan explains “I was shocked and grateful that Zeta nominated me”. Jordan went on to explain that her freshman year here at Appalachian State wasn’t the easiest transition. However, joining Zeta helped change that. She hopes that by representing ZTA on the court, she can positively promote this wonderful organization that helped her through college.

A phrase that Jordan truly tries to live by is “do all things with kindness.” Anyone who knows Jordan would agree that she has done nothing short of just that. During her time here at Appalachian State, she said, “I hope I have made at least one person breathe easier, smile more, or live better.”

Her leadership position on Panhellenic Council has helped her do that. Part of her position within PHC has given her the opportunity to form relationships with other organizations and with other people. Through this position, she has had the chance to work with Hunger and Health Coalition and is currently working on a partnership with them, hoping to leave this with Appalachian as well.

When I asked Jordan what she was passionate about, she responded with a smile and a giggle “just loving people.” Although she isn’t exactly sure what career path she wants to take yet, one thing she is certain of is that she wants to be in a position where she can love and serve people. She hopes to make the world better by simply being kind. In general, she is passionate about genuinely loving people and treating them with the dignity that they deserve.

As Jordan’s time here at Appalachian comes to an end, she said, “This week has been one of the best weeks of my life because of the amazing amount of love and support I have felt. It has been such a great reminder to me of how my experience at Appalachian has come full circle.”
