5 Must Have Boots for Boone

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at App State chapter.

1. Snow Boots- This is the obvious essential in a town where weather changes every five minutes. A girl has to have choices in the snow! From duck boots to North Face to Sorrell’s, the possibilities are endless. The key requirement is traction, or else you’ll end up eating the snow. It is always a good idea to have a few pairs of snow boots with varying intensity so that you can have options to wear when it snows 1 inch or 10 inches.

2. The Staple Leather Boots- Every girl in Boone anxiously pulls out the holy pair of leather boots as the temperature drops and opens up a whole new world of options in her wardrobe. These boots look great with corduroys, dresses, skirts, jeans- basically anything! They can range from riding boots to zip-up boots to cowboy boots- they are your go-to. Combat boots are also a good option. These leather lace-up boots have been showing up lately around campus and are a perfect mix of girly and badass and go with practically anything. These boots are a good option if you’re looking for a shorter style and can be folded over for a different look. Brands like Steve Madden have started putting patterns on the boot lining so that when you flip them inside out, you get a whole new look.

3. Going Out Boots- These do not have to be heeled leather boots or knee-highs, because you will probably fall in Boone, but you need the staple winter bar/party boots. They are most likely your boots that are dressier and could range from riding boots to short leather boots. Usually they are flexible and can be worn with dresses and skirts but still need to have traction so that you’re not that girl sliding down King Street on your way home from the bars.
4. Rain Boots- Again with the bi-polar Boone weather, you must be prepared. A cute pair of rain boots is priceless because they will definitely come in handy. Look for a pair that are lightweight and will hold up. Hunter rain boots are great but a bit pricey and duck boots work well in Boone too. Even a cheap pair from Target is a good buy for the weather here.

5. Fur Lined Boots- These boots emerged in the seventh grade and have not left the fashion scene. No matter how hard you try to resist buying a pair of Uggs or fur-lined boots, you’re going to cave in Boone. There is nothing like slipping your feet into those furry, cozy boots when its 13 degrees outside. Lucky for the Ugg-haters, there are many different options for furry boots these days. Almost every boot comes in a fur-lined version like the fur-lined duck boots! Try all you want to resist, but you are going to give in to these boots eventually!
