12 Things I Need to Do Before Graduation

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at App State chapter.

Spring Break is this week, collegiettes. That means we are halfway through the semester.

In other news, this means that I am halfway through my second semester of my senior year, and I have yet to do all the things I need to do to truly have the App State experience. These are the things, the activities, that all App State students should do at least once while they are at Appalachian.

What are they, you ask?

Here are the things I have yet to do to truly experience Appalachian.

Go to a waterfall (like Trashcan Falls)

I always see pictures on IG of my friends in their bathing suits jumping from rocks and having a blast, and I’m like, “Where even are you? I want to go.”

Go on an ASE

I missed the Spring Break ASEs partly because it was too late to sign up and partly because I wanted to just go home and spend time with my family, but if you have time, you should go. I hear a lot of people go and recommend it.

Eat at all the local restaurants

I’ve already been to Macados, Boone Bagelry, Capone’s, Our Daily Bread, and Cha Da Tai because who hasn’t gone to those? And okay, fine. I’ve gotten takeout from Black Cat, but I still need to dine in, jeez.

Grab a beer at TApp Room, Galileo’s, Boone Saloon and AMB

I’ve heard so much about these places, yet I have never been to them. Maybe because I don’t really go out on the town and drink. I’m more of a stay-in-and-drink-a-whole-bottle-of-wine-in-one-sitting kind of girl. Nonetheless, I want to go to at least one of them. Maybe Galileo’s because it has its Friends/The Office trivia night on Thursday, March 3, and – well – Friends is kinda my favorite show. Like, ever.

See a show at Legends

I’m sad to say, I’m really not a rock (or any other band that plays at Legends) kind of girl either. Yes roll your eyes, but I like music that I can hear what they say and dance crazy to. Currently, I’m listening to Fireball on repeat because “Fiiiiirebaaaaall.”

Hammock on Sanford Mall

I don’t have a hammock, but maybe I could use a friend’s? She says extremely doubtful.

Take a picture at the Yosef statue and with Yosef

Why have I not done this yet?

Go sledding on Suicide Hill (y’know if it snows again)

Yes, yes I will bring my $3 from home sled I bought at Central my first semester, and, yes I will probably jinx the big, March/April snow. Sorry, collegiettes.

Go to a baseball, softball, track or other sporting event not basketball or football

I’ve already been to a basketball and football event, duh. I mean, I’m not that not-Appalachian.

Enjoy every group fitness class available

I feel like this won’t happen because there are still quite a few I have yet to go to like any of the cycling classes, which I hear are a great workout, tbh. I did go to belly dancing recently, and it was so much better than I expected as someone who has little to no coordination. If you haven’t gone, I highly recommend it.

Ski at Appalachian Ski Mountain

*employs Angie’s voice in Shark Tale when she’s trapped in a bubble* Alright, soooooomeone’s going to have to [take me to the Ski Mountain]. Please. Kidding, guys.

Hike Grandfather Mountain

I actually won tickets, but I lost them between Fall 2014 and Spring 2015 semesters. I know, it’s sad.

Anyway, this list is too long to do in half a semester and still get a 4.0, and I’m probably not going to do it all if I even do half. Maybe the underclassmen, junior or senior collegiettes can do these activities in my honor.
