My Semester in Spain: Part 9

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Amherst chapter.

Day two in Italy and I’ve already enjoyed more gelato, pizza and pasta than a girl could dream of. With food on my mind, here’s a list of the best things I’ve had to eat (and drink) in Europe, in the order in which I had them.

1. My first home cooked paella. And Spanish tortilla. And everything else Carlos (my host dad) has prepared. Madrid, Spain. 2. Ham. Barcelona, Spain. 3. Large pretzel. Larger beer. Munich, Germany. 4. Tarta de manzana, a specialty of Regina. Madrid, Spain. 5. Guinness and beef pie. Dalkey Harbour, Ireland. 6. Croquettas, Madrid, Spain. 7. Peanut gelato. Pasta carbonara. Florence, Italy.

8. Pumpkin and ricotta lasagna. Venice, Italy. 9. Some sort of dulce de leche volcano madness. Huevos Rotos. Madrid, Spain. 10. Pastel de Nata. White wine sangria. Lisbon, Portugal. 11. Fish and prawns wrap. London, England. 12. Asparagus salad. Madrid, Spain. 13. Endless pasta and gelato and pizza and more to be consumed. Rome, Italy.

Now for the first 72 hours of meals I have prepared in my mind for my arrival in the USA:1. Salmon and veggies. Home. 2. Bacon, egg and cheese on an everything bagel. Toasted. And A Rise Above coffee. Huntington, NY. 3. Most of the menu at Munday’s, including chicken fingers and a black and white shake. Huntington, NY. 4. My own thanksgiving meal. Home. 5. Egg sandwich from the Loose Goose. Amherst, MA. 6. Cookie Monster ice cream from Flayvors. Amherst, MA. 7. Hopefully Johnny’s Tavern or something else equally as wonderful. Amherst, MA. 8. Endless Tostitos. And I conclude with the following message: the abroad bod is real. Ciao!
