Dear Hamster Helga,
I love my best friends, but they won’t stop singing! How can I get them to communicate with words instead of songs?
Sincerely, My Life is a Musical

Dear My Life is a Musical,
It sounds like your friends are struggling with expressing themselves and are turning to singing as an outlet for their emotions and/or thoughts. As counter intuitive as it may sound, I think your best bet is to sing along with them!
Hear me out – if you engage them in the form of expression on which they are relying, you might be able to get them to focus on what is really causing them to turn to singing instead of speaking. Once you guys are on the same page, they might calm down and actually be able to translate their feelings into spoken words (plus it might freak them out to hear you sing along!). Try it out and let me know if it works!
I sure hope your friends aren’t tone deaf. If they are, I might suggest investing in a pair of earplugs…or some new friends…
Sincerely, Hamster Helga
P.S. Did you know? Hamsters can carry half their body weight in their cheek pouches. Neat, huh?
