Dear Hamster Helga,

I don’t want to become a crazy cat lady, but I’m really not into the Amherst hook up scene. How do I find guys who are looking for more than a one night stand?

Sincerely, Sober and Single

Dear Sober and Single,

Contrary to popular belief, you are not alone! Many Amherst students are uncomfortable with the hook up culture. If you are looking to meet guys and connect on a more emotional or intellectual level, why not try to reach out to people in your extracurricular activities or classes? You’ll be surprised how easy it is to strike up a conversation over a shared interest! Try joining some new clubs and look for a guy that could be a new friend…or maybe more than a friend someday ;)

Don’t fret – you won’t become a crazy cat lady! Hamsters are a different story, though…

Sincerely, Hamster Helga

P.S. For those of you that still don’t get it, “Hamster” is an anagram of “Amherst.” Crazy, huh?
