Valentine’s Day is coming up which can bring on feelings of happiness and love or absolute panic. No matter how Valentine’s Day makes you feel, baking and cooking some festive treats can lift the mood immediately. Listed below are some amazing, sweet treats that anyone can make! 

Puff Pastry Berry Hearts

This recipe is a light and sweet treat to bring to any Valentine’s Day celebration! Anyone can make this as it only contains a few ingredients and very little prep work. 

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 teaspoon powdered(confectionary) sugar
  • 1 package frozen puff pastry(defrosted)
  • ½ cup fresh raspberries(or mixed berries of choice)

*Requires heart cookie cutter*

Steps:

  1. Preheat oven per puff pastry’s directions and lay out dough
  2. Cut dough into heart shapes with a cookie cutter and bake in oven until golden brown(as per puff pastry directions)
  3. In a standing mixer bowl or with an electric mixer, beat the whipping cream for 2-3 minutes, then add powdered sugar and beat for another 30 seconds until thick and fluffy
  4. After puff pastry has cooled completely, slice hearts in half and spread whip cream and berries over the bottom half
  5. Replace top half to create a berry and cream sandwich!

Vegan Chocolate Mousse

A recipe for anyone looking for a vegan Valentine’s treat! Sometimes finding a vegan-friendly dessert can be difficult, but this recipe is the solution. 

Ingredients

  • 1 can chickpea water, aquafaba
  • ½ cup dark chocolate, vegan
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps

  1. In a medium-sized bowl, beat aquafaba until stiff peaks form and melt chocolate
  2. Carefully fold in chocolate, sugar, and vanilla: do not overmix!
  3. Pour mix into 3 cups and chill overnight
  4. Garnish with berries or topping of choice and enjoy!

Red Velvet Cake-Box Cookies

Who doesn’t love red velvet? This recipe is a twist on the classic treat, and it is perfect for the day of love! With only a few easy steps, this recipe can be brought to any Valentine’s celebration or get-together.

Ingredients

  • 1 box red velvet cake mix
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • Powdered(confectionary) sugar for topping

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees and mix all ingredients except powdered sugar(if the batter is really thick, don’t worry- it should be)
  2. Spoon batter into balls and cover in powdered sugar
  3. Place each onto cookie sheets two inches apart(5 cm) and slightly flatten with a glass
  4. Bake for 8-10 minutes until cookies slightly brown on edges
  5. Take out of oven to cool and enjoy!
