Starbucks 101 A Brewed Awakening

The new Starbucks on campus has gold star members and newbies alike lining up for their coffee fix. But did you know there is more to Starbucks than your regular skinny vanilla late? With the new school year in motion, it’s time to find your new seasonal favorites at the campus’ newest coffee shop.

The Basics

Ordering coffee from Starbucks isn’t always as easy as ordering from any other coffee shop. The sizes are titled tall, grande, and venti, but a small, medium, or large order will still do the trick. Watching your calorie intake? Frappuccino’s can be ordered as a light and espresso drinks can be ordered as a skinny. And don’t ever underestimate the deliciousness that is a regular coffee hot or iced. But most importantly, don’t forget to enjoy!

Fall

Coffee Free– Hot Chocolate is always a great classic when the months start getting chilly. It’s your classic chocolate syrup mixed into steamed milk and topped with whipped cream and a chocolate drizzle. Feel free to spice it up with extra pumps of syrup flavors like hazelnut or peppermint.

Seasonal Treat– Pumpkin Spice Latte is a favorite in the fall. The drink encompasses hot espresso mixed with pumpkin spice syrup and topped off with steamed milk, whipped cream, and a dash of cinnamon. It’s like a liquid pumpkin pie before Thanksgiving even roles around!

Flavor Boost– Cinnamon Dolce Latte is a great alternative to those not into the pumpkin flavor this time of year. Espresso blends deliciously with cinnamon dolce syrup and topped with steamed milk, whipped cream, and cinnamon dolce syrup. The syrup provides a warm cinnamon and dolce de leche flavor unique to this drink.

Winter

Coffee Free– Chai Tea Latte is a great way to warm you up while skipping the coffee. Chai tea is extremely aromatic, filling your mouth with incredible spices like cinnamon and cardamom. Order it hot or iced; it’s always a delicious treat. 

Seasonal Treat– Peppermint Mocha Latte brings the flavors of the holiday season together, all inside your red holiday cup. Smooth espresso is mixed with peppermint and chocolate syrup and topped with steamed milk, whipped cream, and a chocolate drizzle. It creates the perfect liquid York peppermint patty that’s a hot treat for the freezing winter nights.

Flavor Boost– Salted Caramel Mocha is a delicious warm treat for the nights that get a little too cold. Hot espresso mixed with mocha syrup and toffee nut syrup are topped with steamed milk, whipped cream, drizzled with caramel, and sprinkled with sugar and sea salt for a perfect sweet and salty combo

Spring

Coffee Free– Peach Green Tea Lemonade or any of Starbuck’s iced teas are the way to go this time of year. With a variety of fruity flavors, you really can’t go wrong. Every option is cool, refreshing, and oh so delicious.

Seasonal Treat– Caramel Ribbon Crunch Frappuccino is a caramel lovers dream! The icy beverage brings together ice, coffee, milk, and caramel syrup in a blender before being topped with whipped cream and a caramel drizzle for your spring awakening. 

Flavor Boost– Iced Mocha latte is a great classic that brings in the cool chocolaty twist of the spring. Espresso blended with mocha syrup is tossed onto ice cubes and topped with cold milk and a chocolate drizzle. It’s a like a chocolate milk and coffee duo!

Summer

Coffee Free– Double Chocolaty Chip Frappuccino is a great way to cool you off for summer coffee-free. Chocolate syrup is blended with ice, milk, and chunks of chocolate to make a delicious treat with chocolate chips in every sip. 

Seasonal Treat– Mocha Cookie Crumble Frappuccino is an incredible liquid Oreo. It’s a good reminder that coffee and chocolate has always been a good combo. This scrumptious indulgence is blended with chocolaty goodness, cookie crumbles, and topped with whipped cream, chocolate drizzle, and crushed cookie. It tastes just like summer!

Flavor Boost– Iced Hazelnut Macchiato is a great spin on a classic that is also delicious hot. Cold milk over ice is blended with delicious Hazelnut syrup and topped with creamy espresso and hazelnut drizzle. Want to kick it up a notch? Ask for 2 pumps of chocolate syrup to make a Nutella Macchiato.  Order it hot or iced any time of the year.
