Oscar Noms You Can Watch from Your Couch

Whether you're a movie buff or someone who wants to see Adam Driver sing 'Being Alive'. I'm sure you're trying to figure out how to watch this year's Oscar-nominated films before the award ceremony on February 9th. Luckily, watching Oscar noms has become easier than ever. Here is our list of Oscar-nominated films you can watch from your couch. 

  1. 1. Marriage Story

    This film, written and directed by Noah Baumbach, centers around stage director Charlie (Adam Driver) and actress Nicole (Scarlet Johansson) who are going through a grueling divorce. Adam Driver is nominated for best lead actor, Scarlett Johansson is nominated for best lead actress, Laura Dern is nominated for best supporting actress and “Marriage Story” is nominated for best picture. You can watch this film anytime, anywhere on Netflix. 

  2. 2. The Irishman 

    Robert De Niro is reunited with Joe Pesci and Al Pacino in this epic crime story directed by Martin Scorsese. The film is about a truck driver, turned hitman named Frank Sheeran (De Niro) who starts working for mobster Russell Bufalino (Pesci) and the part they both played in the disappearance of a powerful teamster named Jimmy Hoffa (Pacino). Al Pacino is nominated for best supporting actor, Joe Pesci is nominated for best supporting actor, Martin Scorsese is nominated for best director and “The Irishman” is nominated for best picture. Add this one to your Netflix queue ASAP.

  3. 3. The Two Popes

    While this film is not nominated for best picture it is still one that should be on your radar. The movie follows Pope Benedict (Anthony Hopkins) and the future Pope Francis (Jonathan Pryce) as they come together to discuss God, faith, and tradition in order to create a new path for the Catholic church. Jonathan Pryce is nominated for best lead actor and Anthony Hopkins is nominated for best supporting actor and you can stream it right on Netflix.

  4. 4. Joker

    With 11 nominations, “Joker” is leading the pack this Oscar season. The film follows Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix) a clown for hire turned stand-up comedian as he tries to navigate a world turning more sinister by the day. This is definitely one supervillain origin story you will never forget. Joaquin Phoenix is nominated for best lead actor, Todd Phillips is nominated for best director and “Joker” is nominated for best picture.   5. 5. Once Upon A Time in Hollywood

    Quentin Tarantino’s 9th film is a love letter to old Hollywood. The film brings together Leonardo Dicaprio, Brad Pitt, Al Pacino, and Margot Robbie as well as a lot of new, young talent. The movie ties together the stories of Rick Dalton, (Dicaprio) an actor who is struggling to find meaningful roles, his stunt double Cliff Booth (Pitt), upcoming actress Sharon Tate (Robbie) and the Manson family. Leonardo Dicaprio is nominated for best lead actor, Brad Pitt is nominated for best supporting actor, Quentin Tarantino is nominated for best director and “Once Upon A Time in Hollywood” is nominated for best picture.
