How to Throw the Perfect Galentine’s Day Party

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at American chapter.

So you don’t have a special someone to celebrate Valentine’s Day with? Or you hate Valentine’s Day because you think it has turned into a commercial holiday? Or maybe you just don’t understand why people make such a big deal out of a day of love and should be embraced and celebrated every day of the year.

Regardless of your feelings about Valentine’s Day, why not take the time to tell your girlfriends how much they mean to you and celebrate Galentine’s Day? Made famous by Amy Poehler’s character Leslie Knope on the TV show Parks and Recreation, Galentine’s Day is February 13 and is a day to be spent with your girlfriends having fun and celebrating each other.

So, take some cues from the always hilarious Leslie Knope and throw your own Galentine’s Day! Heres how:

First, tell your girls about Galentine’s Day.

For those who say they already have Valentine’s Day plans, explain to them that Galentine’s Day is February 13, and they can still celebrate everyone they love!

Next, decide how you will celebrate with your girls. Whether it be at JJ’s Diner for some fabulous waffles,

or a laid-back girl’s night at home singing karaoke, you can’t go wrong.

And don’t forget about gifts! It doesn’t have to be anything big, just something that says, “Thanks for always being there for me.”

But just remember, on Galentine’s Day:

Preach!
