Fall’s Biggest Makeup Trends

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at American chapter.

If there’s one word to describe this season’s makeup trends, it’s bold. From lips to brows, the idea behind these trends is to highlight one feature and flaunt it. Besides the pumpkin spice lattes and cute boots, these trends are just one more reason to get excited about fall!

Burgundy Lips

Burgundy or “vampy” lips have revamped the basic bold red lip. There is a range of dark colors to match any skin tone. If you’re not ready for such an extreme color, you can take your basic red lip and amplify it with lip liner or gloss!

Bold Eyes

Whether it’s metallic lids, neon liner, extreme cat eyes, or false lashes, intense eyes are a huge part of this fall’s makeup trends. There are a million different ways to intensify your eye makeup so feel free to experiment; a little extra oomph goes a long way!

Bold Brows

Ever since Cara Delevigne burst onto the scene, having thick, bold eyebrows has become new again. Get the look by keeping your brows groomed, but don’t overpluck (just the strays!), and invest in brow gel, which will define and hold brows all day.

Glowing Skin

To offset all these bold looks, a clean look is a great approach. Use luminous eyes, dewy skin and natural lips as your tools. Use a highlighting cream to give your face a clean, polished look and use a pearly or pastel-colored cream shadow for your eyes. As for lips, either keep them natural or go for gloss. Ta-da! A natural, fresh look without even looking like you tried.

Halloween: Spider Web Eyeliner

Be spooky with just a hint of glam with this super easy look! Use liquid eyeliner to get the cleanest lines when creating your web. Wing your liner, then add two more wings starting closer to the middle of your lid and connect them. And what glam look would be complete without glitter?
