Christmas Around the Quad, Day 5: Kogod School of Business

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at American chapter.

We saved the best playlist for last: Kogod School of Business! We know that everyone has been hating on some businesses due to their lack of ethics or greed, but you can’t deny that business is everywhere. Not everyone in the business world is a Scrooge or a Grinch! Let us deck your office halls and inspire your leadership skills this holiday season with our final playlist! While you are feeling the holiday spirit, feel free to OCCUPY the comments section and let us know your thoughts! And don’t forget to tweet @HerCampusAU with the hashtag #AUplaylist to share some of your song recommendations.

8 Days of Christmas by Destiny’s Child

Blast to the past with this Destiny’s Child jam circa 2001.  Beyonce belts out the wants and needs of every girl around the holidays.  So boys listen up, write your girl a poem, give her a massage, buy her some Chloe shades and of course a diamond belly ring.

Rudolph, The Red Nosed Reindeer by Gene Autry

Leadership, duh.

Santa Baby by Michael Bublé

Ohh, consumerism at its best. The feminine version of this song is pretty much our detailed Christmas list every year. What girl wouldn’t want a tree trimmed by Tiffany’s? But Michael Bublé released a male version this year, and it is essentially everything a guy in Kogod would want…a Rolex, a convertible, and a tree trimmed by Mercedes. Consider both versions of this song to be the ultimate wish lists for the business major.

Last Christmas by Glee Cast

Can’t have a Christmas list without Glee! Not only is this one of my (Steph’s ) favorite Christmas songs, it’s also a metaphor for the financial crisis. Just consider replacing “heart” with “money”: “Last Christmas, I gave you my money/And the very next day, you gave it away…” So be careful when you give your Eaglebucks or swipes to those finance majors.

You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch

For those of you who don’t know Stephanie, she is the Kogod Cheerleader.  Although she mentioned in the introduction that all business majors aren’t Grinches, there definitely are some (coming from the Tori/SIS perspective).  A lot of employees in offices across the country feel their boss is a grinch. It’s probably true. So put on this childhood classic and vent about your terrible professor or internship boss over a glass of vino with your roomies.
