Celebrity Look for Less: Olivia Palermo

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at American chapter.

Known for her impeccable taste in fashion, Olivia Palermo is always dressed to impress. She is a trendy style-icon that is frequently featured on fashion blogs. Besides being a model, actress on The City (spin-off to The Hills) and being named best dressed New Yorker in 2012, Olivia Palermo also manages a style blog and a killer Instagram page.

As a resident of New York City, Olivia is not afraid of the freezing weather. If you’re in need of some cold weather inspiration, then Olivia’s style is perfect for you! She often mixes and layers classic essentials while also giving it a modern edge. If you’ve ever wanted to recreate some of Olivia’s looks but never had the means to finance it, then this is perfect for you.  Below are some of her cutest and trendiest outfits, at a much lower cost.

Side note: I would also totally recommend checking out her cute hubby.

Outfit 1:

This look should be every college student’s staple during the colder months of the year. As pictured above, Olivia styles a reversible fur vest with some great fall staples: black booties, a turtleneck and a classic black tote. Olivia’s fur vest (as pictured above) is by Zadig and Voltaire and priced at around $720, while a similar, cheaper alternative can be found here for only $42. The black turtleneck she is wearing above is also from Zadig and Voltaire and is priced at around $615, and can be found here. However, this look will work with virtually almost any black turtleneck. You can find one here for only $19.90 from Forever21! Her black motorcycle boots are from Report, while a cheaper alternative from Forever21 can be found here. Lastly, her black tote is a Hermes Birkin Bag —retailed at around $13,000, while Daily Look offers a cheaper alternative. Pair this outfit with some gold accessories (like a gold watch or ring) and you can rock your inner Olivia Palermo!

Outfit 2:

Olivia’s second outfit looks very effortless and simplistic, yet she still manages to look super chic. Above she sports an olive green jacket (which can be found here), with a basic white tank and skinny jeans. She topped off her ensemble with a pair of beige ballet flats (found here), oversized shades and a snow white tote (similar Michael Kors or from Zara). Just pair this outfit with a Venti iced coffee from Starbucks, and you’re all good to go!

Outfit 3:

Olivia wore this outfit when attending Tibi’s Fashion Show at New York’s 2014 Fashion Week. Although her Tibi sweater is largely unavailable, you can find a similar one here. She pairs it a white Rebecca Taylor Blouse but you can find a similar (and cheaper) one here! Hers tuxedo pants are actually from Hudson Jeans, but the same pair of pants can be found here from J.Crew Factory as a much cheaper alternative. Her shoes are Giorgio Armani Suede Cutout Lace Heels, but similar ones can be found here from Go Jane.

Outfit 4:

Olivia wore this third outfit to Elie Saab’s Spring 2014 Fashion Show. You can find a grey textured peplum top, similar to the one Olivia is wearing, from Forever21 here. Olivia’s Black Jacket is (of course) a Nina Ricci Black Peplum Jacket, but virtually any black jacket will work with this outfit! A similar alternative can be found here, from Love Culture for only $29.95! With the peplum top, she pairs some sleek leather trousers. Some affordable options can be found here from H&M for only a fraction of the price! To complete the full outfit, she is wearing a pair of Gianvoti Camo Heels, for similar ones click here and here. However, if you’re looking for a more campus-friendly version, you can find a pair of camo flats here

Outfit 5:

Whether you’re going to class or walking around downtown D.C., this last outfit is perfect for virtually any occasion. Above, Olivia pairs a navy blazer and simple t-shirt with olive jeans and casual sneakers. You can find similar and affordable olive-green jeans from both Aeropostale and Windsor. A cheap alternative to her tan Hermés Birkin bag can be from Zara and Forever21. If you’re interested, you can find her High-Top Lanvin Sneakers here. But some cute alternatives can be found here from Forever21 (just add black laces), or these cute flats from Windsor!
