Cardinals vs. Red Sox: Three Things to Know

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at American chapter.
The World Series is upon us and as collegiettes, there are important facts and quirks about the sport that should be known. Here are the most important things to know about this baseball championship in case a cute baseball player is in your economics class.
  1. For starters, so you are not totally out of the loop, you should know who is playing. The two teams are the St. Louis Cardinals and the Boston Red Sox. These two teams got to the World Series by having the best records in Major League Baseball. They are competing for the World Title of best baseball team of 2013. The last time that these two teams played against each other in the World Series was in 2004, when Boston won the title. Both teams have won at least one world title since 2004 and have an ongoing history throughout the 20th century.
  2. Both St. Louis and Boston are considered “Baseball Cities” and both take extreme pride in that title. If you are lucky enough to go to the games, know this. If you are watching from afar, also know this. There is something fun and exciting about rivalry, but it can be tricky. It’s best to avoid extreme trash talking, as die-hard fans can be quick to react and it can escalate quickly. Either make sure people are there to back you up (kidding) or do not pick an unwanted fight.
  3. On a positive note, this year’s World Series has been very anticipated and has been called ‘a true world series’. It was reported last year that the 2012’s World Series had the lowest views in history. Baseball is an exciting, fun filled and historical sport. Be a part of it! This World Series just may go down in history as one of the best.
