Bookstore cafes are a great place to sit and chat with your friends, catch up on some work, or just enjoy the day. Check out these places if you love to a little something to sip and snack while you read.

Kramerbooks and Afterwords Cafe

Location: Dupont CircleAfterwords Cafe has a lot of lunch and dinner options, perfect for if you want a more sit-down experience.

Busboys and Poets

Location: U Street (with other locations around the city)

Busboys and Poets is always bustling, with a sit-down cafe section, a bar, and couches.

Politics and Prose

Location: Chevy Chase

The Obamas do all their local, independent bookstore shopping here (or at least they did one time).

The Potter’s House

Location: Adams MorganFor fans of Southern food and charm.
