The 6 Essential Items for Any Spring Break Trip

This is a sponsored feature. All opinions are 100% from Her Campus.

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at American chapter.

With spring break just 2 days away, it’s hard to focus on anything besides the upcoming week off, let alone midterms or group projects. Whether you’re headed to a beach, going back to your hometown, or staying in DC, there’s nothing better than a week of sleeping, eating, and seeing friends.

Her Campus American was recently lucky enough to receive a Spring Break Survival Kit from nationals, which includes new products that we got to try out just in time for break. We’re also hosting a giveaway on with some of our picks- check out our Facebook page for details and make sure to enter by midnight tonight! Here are some of our favorites that we think are essential for any spring break- whether you’ll be traveling to somewhere sunny or just enjoying a “staycation” on campus without the usual business!

1. Your phone essentials

Our first essential is a Popsocket. Not only does it help you keep a better grip on your phone so it doesn’t find a fateful shatter over break, but it can also help you get the perfect angle for that Insta post.

2. Your skincare essentials

Our skincare essentials include sunscreen and self tanner. While the self tanner isn’t mandatory, the sunscreen absolutely is! We tried the Alba Botanica® Hawaiian Green Tea Sunscreen, which is both moisturizing with aloe vera and green tea, and also provides SPF 45 protection. When it comes to being in the sun, skin cancer is not worth a good week ‘s tan. Be sure to slather it up! If you still want to rock the tanned look after break, these wipes by L’Oreal Paris that we tried give you the kissed by the sun glow without the skin damage. Plus, they’re travel-sized, so they’re easy to pack in your carry-on.

3. Your hair essentials

These can vary for everybody, but we’re loving the Bed Head thickening spray and anti-frizz finishing spray to keep your hair voluminous and smooth. I tried the anti-frizz spray on my curls for Founder’s Day and they didn’t move all night, but were still silky and shiny. Humidity is no match for this stuff. I’ve also sprayed it on my brush recently and brushed it through my hair to revive day-old hair.

4.  Your lip products

Liquid lipsticks are everywhere. The cross of a lipgloss and a lipstick allow this liquid formula from Buxom Cosmetics to stay on your lips while maintaining its shiny layer. A major plus: the lipstick plumps your lips just a bit with a tingling sensation when applied.

6. Your all-purpose essential

The last essential may seem a bit off-the-wall, but it can be used for anything from a flip-flop emergency to a quick fix on a small seam gap in your favorite dress. These tiny tubes of Krazy Glue can fit anywhere and come in a convenient carrying case. It seems to be a fix-all. A definite must-have for your emergency kit.

That’s all for the 2018 Spring Break survival kit! From all of us here at HCAU, we’d like to wish you an exciting yet relaxing spring break! We’ll see you for the second half of the semester starting next week, and make sure to enter our giveaway if you want to try out some of these products for yourself!
