1. Iggy Azalea
Azalea is an Australian rapper who is as famous for her music as she is for dating rapper A$AP Rocky. Some great tracks to check out are “Work” and “Change Your Life” because of the way she combines electronic beats and rap lyrics to create songs that make you want to go out and have fun. In July, you can catch her on tour with Kanye West and Pharrel.
2. Azealia Banks
Banks is an American rapper, singer and songwriter from Harlem, New York. Her most famous song is “212” featuring Lazy Jay, which has been in many movies. She has collaborated with Lady Gaga and Kanye West and is most known for being openly bisexual. Billboard named her one of the “Artists to Watch” for 2014.
3. Angel Haze
Haze is an American rapper born in Detroit, Michigan. She is featured on many mixtapes but also colaborates with big name rappers such as Iggy Azalea. Her style is less electronic and “poppy” than the previous rappers mentioned, but it is still as fun to listen to. Songs to listen to are “New York” and “Werkin’ Girls” off of her New York EP.
4) Sky Ferreira
Ferreira is a female singer-songwriter from Los Angeles, California. She started her carreer as a gospel singer and was later discovered on MySpace (when people used to use Myspace…). Today, her style is catching the eyes of many producers because of its eclectic mix of gospel, pop and electronic. A song to listen to is “Everything is Embarrasing” because of its more upbeat vibe compared to her other slower songs.
Kreayshawn is a rapper from Oakland, California. She is also in a rap group, The White Girl Mob, with her long time friends V-Nasty and Lil Debbie. Their song “Gucci Gucci” became extremely popular which led Kreayshawn to release her debut studio album, “Somethin’ ‘Bout Kreay”. A fun fact about Kreayshawn is that she received a 0.0 GPA in highschool and then dropped out. She then passed her GED test a couple of years later and recently gave birth to her son, Desmond, in September. She is mostly popular in the Bay Area but continues to gain more fans on the East Coast. Songs “Gucci Gucci” and “Go Hard (La,La,La)” are two of her popular songs.
