3 Halloween Party Themes to Keep the Zombie Night Alive

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at American chapter.

I don’t know about you, but I love this time of year! Not as much as Christmas mind you, but there is just something about the crisp air, all of the vibrant colors of the leaves, the smell of autumn in the air. All of the comfort food the season brings helps too! All that being said, Halloween is its own thing. I have always been into dressing up, and loved the idea of throwing themed parties with my family and friends. After lots of research, a couple glasses of cider (not-spiked, of course!), and conversation with my girls, these are the ideas that we liked  most.

1. Harry Potter

Because who in our generation doesn’t love a kick-ass Harry Potter party?! This is a fantastic way whip up some wicked potions and grub, and get friends from all houses together for a great time! However, if partying it up isn’t your thing, then this is also a great idea for a low-key Harry Potter movie marathon with your favorite people! So gather up Dumbledore’s army and go all out. ‘Tis the season!

2. Era Party

Calling all flappers, gangsters, hippies, divas, and rockstars from all eras! This  will be a blast of a party and a fun chance to see how creative you aand your friends can be! Whether you choose one decade/era or multiple, this theme is bound to be a crowd pleaser! Additionally, this is a good chance to use what you already have in your wardrobe to see what you can put together!

3. Murder Mystery

Okay, so this one takes a bit of planning, but if you and your besties have the time it is so worth it! Send out invitations assigning each invitee a character, and have them dress as such. Then, get creative with your co-hosts to come up with a wild story for your guests to solve! Be wicked, gruesome, funny, or just straight up weird! That is what Halloween is all about!

I hope these ideas have given you some inspiration has the holiday approaches. Remember, Halloween is all about having fun and going crazy! Just remember to always be safe so that you can do it all over again next year!
