11 Reasons Why Fall is The Best Season

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at American chapter.

Fall lovers know that there is no better time to be alive than when the sun crosses the celestial equator and we’re finally able to drink pumpkin-flavored everything. Remember when winter ended and you were all like:

But by August you were more like:

And now we’re getting ready to jump in some leaves and cozy up with a fleece while screaming our heads off for all those grown men hitting each other for an oddly shaped ball. Here are 11 reasons why you should be pumped about fall:

1. The Perfect Temperature

Some people say summer fun in the sun is the prime time to get some Vitamin D with some outdoor adventures. But those same people probaly enjoy sweating, and having the sun melt their face off. Fall is the perfect time to get some fresh air: it’s not too hot and not too cold (just wear a light jacket and you’re good to go). Hiking is magical when you’re not worried about getting eaten alive by mosquitoes and you can’t beat seeing all the beautiful colors while breathing in that crisp autumn air.

2. Boots

They make every outfit look on point. Whether you choose to rock short booties or high saddle boots, rock it!

3. Scarves

A scarf always makes you look like you are trying harder than you are. They amp up any outfit while also keeping you super comfy.

4. Leaves

That satisfying crunch from stomping on fallen leaves is better than chicken tenders from Bene. Plus, jumping into a giant pile of leaves brings out everyone’s inner child.

5. Apples

Honey Crisps, Macs, Granny Smiths, Pink Ladies, Fujis…they’re all amazing. TDR’s choices might be minimal, but apples are still another reason why fall is the best. Even if whole apples aren’t your thing all their sugary companions are equally as loveable: apple pie, apple cider, apple crisp, apple fritters. This is what dreams are made of.

6. Pumpkins

So pumpkin spice lattes are kind of a thing – but Starbucks did not invent this amazing gourd. Carving pumpkins is always a good time and not only do you get a nice decoration but you can also roast the seeds and have a snack to help you get through those three hour lectures.

7. Halloween

Haunted hayrides and houses, creepy movies and getting to watch Halloweentown on repeat. Free candy and getting to dress up in costumes? Sign me up. Also, everyone loves a good scare.

8. Thanksgiving

After you’ve recovered from the haunted houses and scary movies, a month later you get to stuff your face and go home and shower in a non-communal bathroom. Or, if you’re like me, spend quality time with your fellow AU friends and eat badly prepared TV Dinners. Either way, there aren’t any classes.

9. Fall Sports

Being a die-hard football fan while also being a die-hard AU Eagles fan is a bit difficult. Thank goodness for ESPN. At least we get our doses of soccer, cross country, field hockey and volleyball. School spirit is never higher than when the leaves are falling.

10. Pies

Apple pies baking in the window, a yummy slice of peacan dessert after dinner and walking into a room that smells like sugary delights.

11. Black Friday

After stuffing your face at Thanksgiving you get to elbow your way through Best Buy for those great deals…or sit at home and kill those cyber steals. Saving money and getting all your Christmas shopping done in one day is the perfect end to a great fall.
