11 Reasons to Embrace Your One Direction Obsession

Some people seem to be under the impression that liking One Direction is something to be ashamed of. Alas, there is no reason for this shame. We should all embrace the things we love. There is nothing wrong with liking a good pop song. Besides, there are plenty of good reasons to like One Direction. Here are the top 11: 

1.They are completely ridiculous 

2. They are horrible at being a boy band. 

Traditionally when you think of boy bands, the image of coordinated dance moves and flashy outfits comes to mind. While, like any 90’s girl, I love the Backstreet Boys and N-Sync, it’s refreshing to love a boy band that is so bad at being a boy band. One Direction is essentially just a bunch of crazy talented, dorky (and beautiful) lads from the UK. Observe: One of the few coordinated dance moves One Direction has participated in. 

3. They encourage healthy eating 

Here we have Harry Styles eating an orange at the VMAs. Also Rihanna. 

4. They are actually really talented.

Most people know that One Direction started on the X Factor, but fewer know that the boys were solo acts before they became a group act. Each member made it on to the X Factor on their own individual merit. In addition, they almost won the competition and everyone who watched the show knows they should have. Anyone who says One Direction doesn’t have talent hasn’t honestly heard their music. Rather, they hate them because they are a boy band. Haters gonna hate. 

5. They support alot of great causes 

In 2013, They raised over 2 million pounds for Red Nose Day 2013 and their Red Nose Day 2013 single, “One Way or Another (Teenage Kicks)” has raised over 850,000 pounds to this day. The money raised from the day goes to helping poor and disadvantaged people and fighting issues like poverty. 

6. The Fetus years

Every true fan embraces the fetus years for what they are: adorable.

While cute, the fetus years have definitely passed.

7. They genuinely care about their fans.

All of One Direction’s songs are great, but this song is basically a feminist anthem. 

10. The bromances 

The guys are genuinly great friends. While some fans like to speculate on romantic relationships (NARRY) between band members, I’m personally a fan of the bro-hood. 

11. Lastly, Zayn Malik’s ever changing but always fabulous hair.
