3 Books To Read This Semester

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Albizu chapter.

From a very young age, I developed a special love for reading. I discovered that I appreciated getting lost in the story and finding an escape to let go, calm down and forget any problems I was having.

My Spanish class in high school was always my favorite because we were assigned to read books by Puerto Rican authors. In college, this was no exception. Spanish continued to be one of my favorite classes – especially because I had excellent teachers. I could learn from those faithful lovers of reading and appreciate the importance of always having a good book, article or text at hand. Books, whatever the subject, are able to transport you to whatever story the author wants to tell. It is an intimate conversation between you and the author, which is why I love books so much. Here are some books Albizu students are reading this semester:

  • La sombra del viento, by Carlos Ruiz Zafón
  • El monje que vendió su Ferrari by Robin Sharma
  • Permission to screw up by Kristen Hadded

Some of my colleagues share my feeling. Many have mentioned to me, how the books have helped them to understand many theories or terms that in class were very complicated. For others, the books have been the mentors they had always wanted but never met. One of my favorite authors Robin Sharma said it very well in one of his books “… And if you, like me, have a habit of buying more books than you can ever read, do not feel guilty; you are building your library, and that is a beautiful task.”

If you are someone who likes to read like me, you will understand that you’ll never be in a boring place if you carry a book with you.
