What you Forgot to Tell Yourself Today

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Albany chapter.

Life comes at us fast, as fast as the winter season approaching. We all feel like a victim of life at one point or another; and, we often forget to remind ourselves that we are destined to be great and to live a fulfilling life of love and happiness.

I know you’re probably sick, or recovering from being sick or catching some mid-semester germs. Grab a box of tissues, embrace that smell of the Cup Noodles cooking in your microwave, and take that assignment to your cozy bed.

But wait, your planner is filled with assignments and tests to prepare for and you have yet to catch a breath after taking that biology final. Catch that breath, and take a few more deep breaths, and just breathe. Stop thinking about your upcoming paper, or how Venus Retrograde is screwing your love life over, or about how you need a job because you Door Dash’d way too many times last week. Take time now to get yourself centered and focused, so that you can fully appreciate yourself, all the strength you embody, and all the accomplishments you worked so hard to achieve.  So, repeat after me:

  1. I am doing a lot better than I think I am.
  2. I look great, today!
  3. I cannot become what I want by remaining what I am.
  4. God and the Universe wouldn’t give me an obstacle I couldn’t handle.
  5. I will make myself proud.
  6. Everything that I’m going through is preparing me for what I asked for.
  7. It’s okay to be tired- rest, don’t quit!
  8. Some of the best days of my life haven’t happened yet.
  9. I am more than my mistakes and faults. I am a sister or brother, daughter or son, a friend, a mentor- somebody that is loved.
  10. My soul is a garden and I am allowed to outgrow people.
  11. Remember the days I prayed for the things I have now?
  12. S/he probably doesn’t deserve me anyways.
  13. I am enough and worthy of all the love, healing, and success coming my way.
  14. I will be good to myself and others today and everyday.
  15. I will never forget how much I am loved and worth and I will not forget to tell myself these things everyday!

Whatever obstacles life is currently bombarding you with, everyday you fight through signifies all the light and strength encompassed within you- a defiance to the darkness and doubt that thought it had you. Stay focused, remember to love yourself and keep doing what you are doing because- you are doing amazing, sweetie!!!

Julia is a freshman writer at the University at Albany's chapter of Her Campus. Originally being from Staten Island, she intends to major in Linguistics at UAlbany. In the future, Julia plans on pursuing a career in speech pathology. Besides her dream of becoming a speech pathologist, she has always loved to write and wondered how to incorporate writing in her future endeavors. Her Campus enables her to do what she loves and hopefully continues to provide her with many more opportunities! My name is Daria and I am currently a junior at SUNY Albany. I am studying biology and hope to, one day, become a nurse practitioner.
