Product Review: Survival Kit Diva cups

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Albany chapter.

What girl doesn’t love free stuff? This semester’s survival kits came in and we have to say Nationals have out done themselves this time. Every girl could use these items, making them essential for college survival. In our kits we enjoyed free items from Andrews McMeel Publishing who provided two helpful books for managing your life right now and in your near future with “Adulthood is A Myth” and “The Roommate Book”, Monistat who provided itch relief cream for those uncomfortable times, and Rimmel London a popular cosmetic brand provided volumizing and ultra curling mascara, just to name a few. One thing in the survival kit that personally caught my eye was the DivaCup, one of the first ever menstrual cups to be manufactured and obtain ISO certification (which is a standard for quality of medical devices that is difficult to achieve). The DivaCup essentially works just like a tampon or pad to ease the stresses of menstruation. Out of curiosity, I decided to try out the Diva cup to see if this thing really works. The Diva cup comes in two sizes, size one if for women under the age of 30 or those who have not had a child, the second size is for women over 30 or those who have had a child.  For me, size 1 was the way to go. Although we got ours for free, I found that The DivaCup retails cheaper than other products of the same use. It was very easy to use, although it did feel a little uncomfortable in the beginning it was an adjustment and it did not constantly bother me the entire day. I wore my DivaCup for 9 hours although it is safe to use for 12 and as an added bonus, the product is reusable. Wearing a Divacup I did not have any leakage although I did wear a pad just to be safe. So on a scale from 1-10 I would definitely rate this product as a solid 10. I know many of you ladies may be super skeptical about the DivaCup in the beginning but it is definitely something that you should try. I would go as far as saying it is essential for period survival, so Thank You nationals for the gift and DivaCup for being so kind as to providing this cool product.
