My Fall 2016 TV Pick List

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Alabama chapter.

If you’re a television lover like me, you get excited when the fall season for shows rolls around. I of course get ecstatic when my favorite shows return but I also look forward to falling in love with a new show. This is my personal list of what fall television shows to watch whether they’re returning or new.

  1. The Walking Dead-I’m a huge fan of Walking Dead so this is going to be my number one choice. Me along with everyone else is waiting to discover who Negan killed which has made me anxious all summer long. From all the season 7 trailers, things look hellish for our group. If Daryl Dixon dies, I’ll riot and that will be the cause of the apocalypse. (AMC, October 23rd)
  2. West World-This Sci Fi drama set in the future where guests can release their fantasies at a Western theme park looks worth watching. The series gives off a mysterious vibe. I love sci-fi and mystery so I have a feeling this show is going to be great. J.J. Adams who was involved with my all time favorite show Lost and directed two of my favorite movies: Star Trek and Star Wars, produces the series. Plus, the cast is star studded with the famous Anthony Hopkins who plays the sinister seeming creator of West World, James Marsden, Ben Barnes (Prince Caspian) Jeffrey Wright (Beetee from Hunger Games) and more. If you’re into action shows like me, this is a must watch! (HBO, October 2nd)
  3. Designated Survivor- Everyone’s favorite action hero Keifer Sutherland returns to TV as the last remaining member in the cabinet after a devastating event and becomes the President Of The United States. This show is bound to have suspense and political drama plus you can’t go wrong with Keifer Sutherland. (ABC, September 21st)
  4. This Is Us-This series looks like it will be a heart-warming tearjerker in the best possible way. This bittersweet drama tells the stories of different individuals who share the same birthday and how their lives intertwine. The writers/Directors of Crazy, Stupid, Love bring us this series that will surely having us smile yet cry our eyes out. (NBC, Sept 20th)
  5. Timeless-I love anything to do with time travel so I’m pumped about this show! A trio of heroes must go back in time to save history, as we know it. (NBC, October 3rd)
  6. Frequency-The CW brings us a new mystery television series about a detective who is able to communicate with her father who died in 1996. However, their communication may change events and affect her present. (October 5th)
  7. Pitch-This drama looks like it has promise about a young female pitcher who becomes the first woman to pitch for the major leagues. (FOX, September 22nd)
  8. Luke Cage-Marvel introduced Luke Cage in Jessica Jones and now the marvel television universe is building with Luke Cage getting his own show. I’ve grown up on superhero movies and TV so I’m looking forward to another superhero show. (Netflix, September 30th)
  9. No Tomorrow-This romantic comedy series about a young woman unsatisfied with her work and personal life who finds love with a man who believes the world is going to end seems like it has potential. (CW, October 4th)
