Book Review: Junk Gypsy-Designing A Life at the crossroads of Wonder and Wander by Amie Sikes and Jolie Sikes

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Alabama chapter.

I have been a huge fan of Junk Gypsy for awhile now. I remember following them on Pinterest and falling in love with their bohemian and western style. I was so excited when I saw on my notifications one day that they were following me. Sisters Amie Sikes and Jolie Sikes started the Junk Gypsy Company. Their company features everything from beautiful vintage rustic furniture to stylish hippie country fashion apparel. They had done amazing projects such as fixing up and designing airstreams and tour buses for celebrities like Dierks Bentley and Miranda Lambert. They’ve had a country chic home décor line for Pottery Barn Teen. They’ve been on television such as HGTV and Great American Country TV. The Sikes sisters have decorated for Sadie Robertson’s sweet sixteen party and have been involved in planning parties for other celebrities and weddings. These dynamic sisters have been featured in Southern Living, Country Living, and different magazines so I was ecstatic when I found out that they published a book this year.

I discovered the book at Barnes and Noble and I absolutely loved it. If you’re a free spirit and love creativity, this book is a must read. Everything in the book is great from the colorful whimsical designs on the pages to the amazing photography of their unique and beautiful creations. The book features many DIYS such as a glamorous glitter feather chandelier and an adorable DIY T-shirt curtains. These sisters inspirational story is included in the book. I love reading stories about people achieving their dreams. If you love southern chic home interior, cooking, antiques, bohemian inspired crafts, and cowgirl style, this book is definitely for you. Besides useful DIY tips, the book also features a delicious home style buttermilk biscuit recipie. I love to cook and trying new recipies so I loved that a recipie was included in the book. The book is definitely for the rebels, wanderers, and gypsies who dare to dream and create. I highly recommend this book! If you haven’t heard of the Junk Gypsy Company, look them up and follow them on Pinterest! I guarantee you’re going to fall in love with their wild child style!
