Little Mermaid fans rejoice! Not only is it confirmed that Disney will be turning one of the best movies ever, The Little Mermaid, into a live-action film, but there are now rumors that Zendaya would play the role of Ariel.
Zendaya has gone from a cute little Disney Channel star on her show Shake It Up to a beautiful, mature, and genuinely respectable big screen actress and singer playing large roles such as the part she played in The Greatest Showman. A sweet young girl who becomes a wonderful young woman that people can love and look up to? Sounds like the ideal red-haired mermaid princess to me!
Sadly, this is only a rumor. Neither Disney nor Zendaya have confirmed this hopeful thought, but I think we can all agree that having such an amazing actress and singer who is also a celebrity that people can look up to and a woman of color would be a fantastic choice on Disney’s part.
To the wonderful producers and the astounding composer, Alan Menken, can you put in a good word for our girl Zendaya? She’s all we want in life!
