It is that time of year again when we head back to school and hit the books. But what should we do when we are not studying? Well we have some great suggestions of back to school movies that are a must watch. Here are the top 10 back to school movies you should watch in your free time!

10. The House (2017)

Scott and Kate Johansen must figure out a way to earn some money after their daughter’s scholarship falls through. When all else fails, the desperate couple join forces with their neighbor Frank to start an underground casino in his home. As the cash rolls in and the good times fly, Scott and Kate soon learn that they may have bitten off more than they can chew.

 

9. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (1986)

Ferris Bueller (Matthew Broderick) has an uncanny skill at cutting classes and getting away with it. Intending to make one last duck-out before graduation, Ferris calls in sick, “borrows” a Ferrari, and embarks on a one-day journey through the streets of Chicago. On Ferris’ trail is high school principal Rooney (Jeffrey Jones), determined to catch him in the act.

 

8. Animal House (1978)

When they arrive at college, socially inept freshmen Larry (Thomas Hulce) and Kent (Stephen Furst) attempt to pledge the snooty Omega Theta Pi House, but are summarily rejected. Lowering their standards, they try at the notoriously rowdy Delta Tau Chi House, and get in. The trouble is, the college dean (John Vernon) has it in for the Deltas. He has put them on “Double Secret Probation” and secretly assigned Omega’s president (James Daughton) the task of having their charter revoked.

 

7. 22 Jump Street (2014)

Although they made their way through high school successfully, an investigation at a local college brings big changes for undercover officers Jenko (Channing Tatum) and Schmidt (Jonah Hill). When Jenko meets a kindred spirit on the football team and Schmidt infiltrates the bohemian art-major scene, both men begin to question their partnership. Not only do they have to crack the case, but now the two overgrown adolescents must learn how to behave like adults.

 

6. Pitch Perfect (2012)

College student Beca (Anna Kendrick) knows she does not want to be part of a clique, but that’s exactly where she finds herself after arriving at her new school. Thrust in among mean girls, nice girls and just plain weird girls, Beca finds that the only thing they have in common is how well they sing together. She takes the women out of their comfort zones of traditional arrangements and into a world of amazing harmonic combinations in a fight to the top of college music competitions.

 

5. Neighbors (2014)

New parents Mac (Seth Rogen) and Kelly (Rose Byrne) move to the suburbs after welcoming a baby girl into their lives. All goes well with the couple, until the Delta Psi Beta fraternity moves in next door. Mac and Kelly don’t want to seem uncool, and they try their best to get along with frat president Teddy (Zac Efron) and the rest of the guys. However, when the couple finally call the cops during a particularly raucous frat party, a full-scale war erupts.

 

4. The Breakfast Club (1985)

Five high school students from different walks of life endure a Saturday detention under a power-hungry principal (Paul Gleason). The disparate group includes rebel John (Judd Nelson), princess Claire (Molly Ringwald), outcast Allison (Ally Sheedy), brainy Brian (Anthony Michael Hall) and the well-known athlete Andrew (Emilio Estevez). Each has a chance to tell his or her story, making the others see them a little differently — and when the day ends, they question whether school will ever be the same.

 

3. Harry Potter (2001-2011)

Harry Potter is a British-American film series based on the Harry Potter novels by author J. K. Rowling. The series is distributed by Warner Bros. and consists of eight fantasy films, beginning with Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone and culminating with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2.

 

2. Mean Girls (2004)

Teenage Cady Heron (Lindsay Lohan) was homeschooled in Africa by her scientist parents. When her family moves to the suburbs of Illinois, Cady finally gets to experience public school and gets a quick primer on the cruel, tacit laws of popularity that divide her fellow students into tightly knit cliques. She unwittingly finds herself in the good graces of an elite group of cool students dubbed “The Plastics,” but Cady soon realizes how her shallow group of new friends earned this nickname.

 

1. Dear White People (2014)

Samantha White is a heritage media arts major at the fictional Winchester University, a prestigious and predominantly white school. With her sharp tongued and witty radio show Dear White People and her self-published book, Ebony and Ivy, Sam causes a stir among the administration and student body alike, criticizing white people and the racist transgressions at Winchester.
