This week HerCampus Akron has chose to get a little personal with some on-campus organizations! I have chosen to interview Akron’s Ballroom Dance Club! I interviewed the President, Elizabeth.

The Ballroom Dance Club is a group of students who come together to learn, practice, and teach different types of ballroom dancing, for social occasions and competition against other universities. This club is focused on teaching the basic steps and techniques of each dance, and you do not have to have any sort of experience going into it. They’re all about introducing a new and fun way to meet people in a setting that most people might not have a chance to experience otherwise. Any student enrolled at the University of Akron can join this organization. Elizabeth said that she chose to join this organization because dancing has always been an ambition of hers, and she saw the opportunity to make new friends while learning a new style of dance. Her favorite part of being a member of this organization is because of the friends you make and being able to meet new people that you bond with is one of the best things. She also particularly really enjoy competing at different colleges. You end up making friends with people hundreds of miles away and you get to see how they are when you see them at different competitions.

If you are interested in joining this organization, feel free to add them on Instagram or Facebook. You can also find more information about them on RooConnect or email them: ballroomatua@gmail.com

Abigail is a junior at the University of Akron and is majoring in English with a minor in Creative Writing. Outside of class, she enjoys obsessing over YA books, baking with her twin sister, and, of course, watching out for the latest Tik Tok trend.
