Halsey Releases New Single Ahead of Upcoming Album

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Akron chapter.

If you’re not living underneath a rock, you know who Halsey is and you know that she FINALLY dropped a new single off of her soon to be released album. Well, I take that back. Her album isn’t coming as quickly as I would hope— but I’m reminding myself that it’ll be here before we know it.

Anyway, Halsey released a new single on Friday, Sept. 13. We haven’t heard a new song from the pop icon since May of 2019 and these two songs could not be more opposite.

“Nightmare” is an angry anthem about being a complex woman in society today, while her new single, “Graveyard,” is dedicated to an ex lover of hers. Even though these two have completely different sounds, they both really speak to me lyrically.

When “Graveyard” dropped, she also set a date for her upcoming album to be released. In her Instagram post she shared, “GRAVEYARD is out now. My 3rd album ‘Manic’ is available for preorder now. It’s nice to meet you.”

Her third album will be available Jan. 17, 2020. Yes, we have to wait that long for her new album to come out. Until then, here is what we know: The singer has tweeted about pouring her heart and soul into this new album along with sharing that there is at least one collaboration on this album

I have never been more excited for an album, a collaboration, and everything that will come with this album she has created. In the meantime, don’t mind me as I scream “Graveyard” lyrics in my car.
