It’s awards season (finally) and I’m not sure about you, but I am LIVING for it!

In the past, awards season to me was always like, “What’s the big idea anyway?” But this year, you better believe that if there’s an award show on your girl is sitting in front of the TV. I spent more time than I’d like to admit at the movies this past year. I couldn’t help it there were so many that I had to see. Heck, I even saw Bohemian Rhapsody six times in theaters. That’s more than I saw The Greatest Showman in theaters. Like, who the heck have I turned into…some movie guru? Maybe.

While I could go on for hours, and I mean hours, about how I don’t regret seeing Bohemian Rhapsody six times in theaters, or why critics are wrong for thinking it’s not a bloody masterpiece, that’s not the point of this article. So let’s dive right in to the nominees and see who the Academy Award might go to.

For best picture the nominees are Black Panther, BlacKkKlansman, Bohemian Rhapsody, The Favourite, Green Book, Roma, A Star Is Born andVice. I’m not going to lie, this is a tough category with Black Panther, Bohemian Rhapsody, Green Book, and A Star Is Born. Those are the ones I’ve seen and the rightfully deserve the nomination. As for the ones I haven’t seen they’re on my list and I’m sure they deserve the nomination just as much. I’m not sure if it’s just me, but this year it seems that each category has tough competition.

The nominees for lead actor are Christian Bale, Vice, Bradley Cooper, A Star Is Born, Willem Dafoe, At Eternity’s Gate, Rami Malek, Bohemian Rhapsody, Viggo Mortensen, Green Book.  For lead actress the nominees are Yalitza Aparicio, Roma, Glenn Close, The Wife, Olivia Colman, The Favourite, our queen Lady Gaga, A Star Is Born, and Melissa McCarthy, Can You Ever Forgive Me? Some of these actors have landed their first Oscar nomination as well, which is definitely something to celebrate.
