In honor of Valentine’s Day, I want to recommend my three favorite romance movies with compelling plotlines.
- Beyond the Lights
Noni Jean is a famous British singer who has always followed her mothers orders because her mom believes she knows what’s best for her. After Noni becomes depressed and tries to end her life, a police officer named Kaz saves her life and helps her along the way to find out who she really is and who she wants to be.
- Titanic
A 100 year old woman named Rose tells the story of when she was on the RMS Titanic. Originally her mom attempts to force her to marry a man that treated her terribly so Rose feels trapped. She then meets a third class passenger named Jack Dawson who Rose seemed to connect with more. This infuriates her mother as it will ruin their chances of being in a higher social status but Rose wants to be with someone for love. Jack wanted her to accomplish many things in life and made sure she was always happy.
- Slumdog Millionaire
Jamal Malik participates in a show called Who Wants to be a Millionaire? and gets every answer correct and is accused of cheating but we see that he is able to navigate the correct answers by his past and we get to know who Jamal is by showing us how he grew up and interactions with the woman he loved the most.
