Why Winter Park Should Be Your Next Winter Break Destination

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Agnes Scott chapter.

Winter break is the perfect time to relax and decompress from final exams and papers while you wait for the next semester to begin. Many people take this time to go on fun and exciting vacations to warm and sunny places to escape the chill and December rain. But if beaches aren’t your thing and you want some winter fun, then Colorado may be the place for you. The southwest state is full of fun winter resorts in the Rockies where you can do anything from skiing to snowshoeing. One such place is Winter Park Ski Resort, located in Winter Park, CO.

If you are a skier or snowboarder then this is the place for you. With a wide variety of trails at each difficulty level, you can test your skills or take it easy at almost any part of the mountain. Even the peak has access to simpler trails so you can head up for a nice photo op, and then take the easy way down.

Even if you’re not interested in skiing or snowboarding,  there are options for you at Winter Park. You can walk through the base area which gives you fun views of people coming down the slopes and of the beautiful mountain scenery surrounding you while you sip hot chocolate around the fire pits or try a tasty sugar waffle from the Waffle Cabin. There are also plenty of fun activities available, like ice skating, snowshoeing tours, snowmobiling, and sledding and tubing. You can even take a snowcat tour up the mountain so you can experience the amazing sights that Winter Park has to offer. If you’re tired of the mountain for the day, you can take a quick bus ride into town (there are free rides during peak winter season) and shop around or even catch a movie and some bowling at The Foundry. If you’re looking to get away next winter break and are considering somewhere you can have some winter fun, then keep Winter Park Colorado in mind.
