Weirdest Reality TV Shows

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Adelphi chapter.

Everyone has their guilty pleasure reality shows that they love to watch at 2am. With the exploding popularity of reality TV, the shows are getting more specific and really strange…

Sex Sent Me to the ER- This ridiculous TLC show is exactly what the title states, couples who had to go to the Emergency Room because of kinky sex gone horribly wrong. Usually married couples trying (and failing) to spice up their sex life, the show explains how their sexual escapades ended at the hospital.

Baggage- Maybe not the weirdest show on the surface, but some of the things revealed on this reality show will make you question the dating life. Jerry Springer hosts a show where people bring in literal “baggage” containing their secrets so they can be paired up with someone to date even though they already know their mot disturbing baggage.

I Didn’t Know I Was Pregnant- A pretty ridiculous and unbelievable concept, this show is almost sad considering that these people honestly didn’t realize they were pregnant.

Sunset Daze- Basically Jersey Shore for seniors, and we don’t mean in high school. These older men and women who live in an Arizona retirement home don’t let their age stop them from trying to party.

My Strange Addiction- of course, another TLC show. With everything from eating nail polish to being in a relationship with their cars, it’s a wonder how these people survive.

Farmer Wants Wife- Much like this season of the Bachelor, this show is basically just about a farmer looking for a wife by giving 10 attractive women a series of “farm” challenges. They girls have to do everything from driving a tractor to helping various farm animals give birth, and as you can guess, it is not pretty.

Taking on Tyson- This show is probably the last thing you would expect from Mike Tyson, a show about him raising and breeding pigeons. He trains them and teaches them to race on a competitive circuit. I’m not sure which is more shocking, Mike Tyson raising pigeons or the fact that pigeon racing is a real sport.

My Big Fay Gypsy Wedding- This show is not only about the flashy and exciting Gypsy weddings but also a look into these (usually young) girls’ lives. With lavish and crazy dresses and even crazier parties, this show is lots of fun.

Vanilla Ice Goes Amish- Yep. This is a real show. The rapper Vanilla Ice basically just goes into Amish communities and learns about their lifestyle. Not the worst reality show but it makes you wonder who thought of this idea.
