These big celebs have shown through their actions and quotes that they’re feminists, and this couldn’t be more helpful to the cause. They’re beliefs have helped teach people about what feminism really is, and in this, big strides have been made.

1.     Beyonce

“I don’t like to gamble, but if there’s one thing I’m willing to bet on it’s myself.”

Beyonce has the one of the fiercest attitudes I’ve ever seen before (maybe that’s where Sasha Fierce came from). She believes in herself as a woman and would never let anyone take her down.

2.     Taylor Swift

“Other women who are killing it should motivate you, thrill you, challenge you and inspire you.”

Taylor Swift feels that women should stick by each other, just look at her crazy cool squad! We should never look at other women as competition or a threat, but someone to be inspired by.

3.     Amy Poehler

“It takes years as a woman to unlearn what you have been taught to be sorry for. It takes years to find your voice.”

Amy Poehler describes how it can be hard to be a woman especially because of the treatment we receive and stereotypes we feel we need to fit into. It’s time we fought that and know that we don’t have to be sorry.

4.     Joseph Gordon-Levitt

“I do call myself a feminist, absolutely! It’s worth paying attention to the roles that are sort of dictated to us and that we don’t have to fit into those roles. We can be anybody we wanna be”

It’s powerful to see a man in Hollywood declare that he is a feminist. He brings up the fact that everyone is assigned a certain way they’re supposed to be, but we shouldn’t have to listen to that, instead we should be free and who we want.

5.     Emma Watson

“We’re never, ever, ever going to be able to fly as high unless we’re both in support of each other.”

Emma Watson, UN Women Goodwill Ambassador, has made huge strides in feminism. One of her biggest arguments is that men and women need to be on a team together. We need to support each other and see one another as equals, or else nothing will really change.

With big celebrities speaking out about feminism, more people are bound to listen. Everything these men and women are fighting for is working towards this earth being a better more equal place to live.
