What is your favorite thing about Adelphi?

  • My favorite thing about Adelphi is the sense of community on this campus. Because it is a smaller school, everyone knows everyone, and getting involved on campus can open up so many opportunities to meet people and create an incredible experience on this campus. Joining one club or organization pushes you to join another, and another, and another, until you find your schedule packed to the brim with class, meetings, and programs! I love being active and always having something to do, and Adelphi is the place to be if you like the active lifestyle!
  • Also, the Levermore Global Scholars Program is one piece of this campus that has essentially changed my life. It’s such a tight-knit community, and everyone in the program are such strong, dedicated, and motivated leaders determined to make change wherever they go. They are my second family away from home when I’m on campus late at night (basically every day).

What are you involved with on campus?

  • I hope I don’t bore you with my list of involvement, ‘cause whenever I talk about it, people tend to doze off… Anyways! *Deep breath* I’m the Class of 2016 Representative for the Levermore Global Scholars Student Leadership Council, a Commuter Assistant, brother of Pi Lambda Phi Fraternity, Interfraternity Council President, a Campus Outreach Chair for the Relay for Life Committee, an Orientation Leader (CLASS OF 2019 WE’RE COMING FOR YA), Admissions Ambassador, a representative of IFC for the Student Government Association, a member of the Commuter Student Organization, Technology Assistant at the School of Education, and probably a bunch more that I’m forgetting!

What advice would you give to students who are shy?

  • My advice for students who are shy or aren’t involved is to take that daring first step forward! What I mean by daring is doing something that not only interests you, but that you know you will get a fulfilling experience out of! Don’t be afraid of embarrassing yourself, ‘cause you’ll only learn more from it! There’s so many opportunities on this campus, and you could be seizing all of them! Take that one step forward, and you’ll be on the way to great things!

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

  • In 5 years, I see myself working as a Foreign Service Officer, either assisting in global lawmaking processes or being an ambassador. If not that, then working as a Program Officer in a human rights organization such as Open Society Foundation or Human Rights Watch.

If you could switch places with anyone on campus who would it be?

  • If I could switch places with anyone on campus… It would probably be Dr. Thornburg. I call him the “Man of Every Hour” because at any point during the day when you see him, he’s off saving the world. He truly is an incredible human being who does so much for those around him, and I want to understand how he does it! Is he superhuman?

Favorite hobby?

  • Volleyball is my favorite sport! I also love cooking, it’s really therapeutic! And as cliche as it sounds, doing community service is incredibly fulfilling. I also draw graphic novels and have a mini series in my room, but I’ve been so busy, I haven’t had the time to finish it.

Who or what inspires you?

  • There’s so many people that inspire me. I couldn’t name names ‘cause I wouldn’t be counting everyone. So I’ll just say all of my closest friends (they know who they are!). Surrounding myself with such driven, dedicated, smart, and motivated people has really pushed me to constant self-improvement and being the best I can be. They all work so hard not just to improve this campus, but to make the communities that they will interact with after college even better, and that inspires me to do the same.

What is something that people may not know about you?

  • One thing that my friends and family may not know about me is that my fontanelle (the soft spot that babies have on their heads) never fully closed, so there’s one small spot on the top of my head that’s much softer (Thank you to my Nursing majors for pointing this out!). People love touching it for some reason like I’m a lab experiment. I just hope it closes soon!

How do you feel about being campus celebrity?

  • I’m very humbled to be a campus celebrity! I didn’t think people were paying attention to me like that! It’s really funny to think about, but I really am thankful!
