Music is one aspect of life that brings everyone together and in which life brings us our friends. When our favorite artists release new music, we stay up so that we can listen to the new project once the clock strikes midnight. We engage in streaming and buying parties so that records can be set. On social media, we express the love we have for our favorite artists. There is also another way music could help us make our friendships stronger, which is now made possible through Spotify.

If you’re a Spotify user, you have probably created numerous playlists. These playlists could either be for parties, for listening to when you’re feeling a certain mood, or streaming events. However, there is one Spotify playlist function that I feel not a lot of people are familiar with: that function is the collaborative playlist. When you have a collaborative playlist, anybody else that has access to that playlist can add or remove songs. The collaborative playlist is a good way to strengthen the bonds you have with your friends. You can share your music taste while also getting to know your friends’ music tastes. You all can discover new music together. You can also become a fan of at least one of your friend’s favorite artists.

The way you create a collaborative playlist is by clicking on “Create Playlist.” You then click on “More” (which is displayed as three dots). From there, you click on “Collaborative playlist” to turn it into a collaborative playlist. You then click on “More” again, hit “Share”, and then “Copy link to playlist” so that you can share the link to the playlist with your friends. This will allow them to add songs to the playlist.

Having a fun day with your friends? Going on a trip with your friends? Hosting an event with your friends? You can create a collaborative playlist for all these scenarios. Friendships are one of the greatest bonds that life hands to us. Collaborative playlists can strengthen that bond.
