Dear 18 Year old me,

Hey there, future self here!  There is so much to say… I will start by saying this: you think that you know things, but soon you will see you really have NO idea.  There will be things that you go through that you would have never imagined you would; things that you can’t anticipate no matter how much armor you wear to try and shield it off.  It is inevitable, so you might as well buckle up for this dizzying and dazzling ride. But, I will give you some tips for the upcoming years.

1.      PAY ATTENTION TO WHO YOU LET IN.  A dose of this could save you from countless headaches, decrease your stress, and even improve your energy!  There are so many signs that people could show you, but you will miss them if you’re not keeping your eyes and ears open.  As an empath, you tend to absorb the energies of who you are surrounded by often. So make sure this is someone you want around constantly.

2.      E for ENERGY, as my friend always says.  Piggybacking off the first one, your energy is SOOO valuable!  More than a jewel or gold or the new iPhone X! You know why? Because you can’t ever get it back once it’s gone.  Wasting your energy on things or people that don’t serve you can be so exhausting. Don’t do it!

3.      PUMP THE BREAKS.  I know everything is new and shiny when you start college.  Just don’t burn your candles at both ends! Balance is SO important, you will see.

P.S. Try not to drink too much, know your limits! (You are in college, after all)

4.      BE YOURSELF! Cliché asf right?  But as you get older and your peers’ lives take different directions, you may feel pressured to be at a certain level already.  Do not fall into this trap, it is false advertisement. It’s your life, you are the only one living it so do things that are best for you.  Sometimes, it’s okay to be a little selfish; it’s a type of self-preservation.

5.      Lastly, LISTEN TO YOUR GUT.  Your intuition can help guide you in the right path.  It is that “inner mother” that can usually tell which situations can benefit you and which will not.  Don’t ignore it or take it for granted!

You can do this! Get out there and manifest your destiny!  Your mind is a powerful tool.

Choose your paths wisely.

Love,

your 23-Year old self
