Fall’s known for plenty of things: leaves changing colors, pumpkin spiced lattes (or my personal Starbucks seasonal favorite, the salted caramel mocha), apple picking, Halloween, and the list goes on. But this time of year is also known for something else that you collegiates may be all-too familiar with, and that’s the event worshipping all fall fashion and beauty trends: Her Campus’s College Fashion Week. Let’s take a quick look at some styles that you may have already gotten a sneak peek of on your own campuses and see what’s kissable…or dissable.

1.Almond nails have been a trend for a while now, but it seems as if they make a comeback every fall even longer and more pointed. This nail trend is a definite kiss, being much more bold and eye-catching than its sisters: the oval nails and the squared nails. Top your fierce nail shape off with an autumn appropriate color from either Essie or OPI’s fall 2014 nail polish collections.

2.Bell-bottoms were a thing of the 60s and 70s, but they’ve been making their comeback in 2014! A fitted fit and a flared-out opening make this throwback Thursday trend ultra flattering and a kiss. Paired with a fitted crop top gives a hippy-inspired outfit its modern twist. Thus, rock your bell-bottoms like Kendall Jenner!

3.Boyfriend jeans are a much comfier, more casual alternative to the ever-so-popular skinnies that we’ve grown to adore. Its loose, distressed look gives an effortlessly cool vibe, and who in their right mind would turn down that look? Because they actually give us girls some mobility, unlike our suffocating skinnies that take about 20 minutes of hopping up-and-down to get on, you can count on kissing your boyfriend jeans.

4.Mixing prints used to be completely frowned upon by the fashion gods up until a few years ago and now it seems as though they’re taking over the runways. From floral to geometric to polka dots to plaid to stripes, it seems as though the possibilities are endless. Mixing prints can be tricky, because anything too overdone can give you the “I just got dressed with my eyes closed” look. However, this trend gives you a limitless amount of options and all the freedom in the universe to express your individuality, making it a total kiss. To play this trend out safety, stick to more neutral prints and avoid clashing two prints of equally bold colors together.

5.Bold brows are surely beginning to replace the overly-tweezed, barely-there brows and thank heavens for that! Brow gels, pencils, powders, and waxes have been flying off the shelves at all beauty retailers, and its easy to see why. A strong set of brows really accent off your entire face. Her Campus knows that this beauty trick is surely a kiss because the teams of Her Campus Adelphi and Her Campus Hofstra were recently able to collaborate with European Wax Center in Merrick, NY, in order to host Brow Hour, a Friday afternoon filled with mocktails, cake pops, Baked by Melissa goodies, macaroons, and of course – complimentary brow waxes! (Click here to read more about our soiree!)

6.Bright colors may be a shock to you because this time of year is typically associated with jewel tones, metallics, olive greens, browns, blacks, navys, and other very neutral, dark clothing and accessories.  However, this fall, a lot of brighter colors such as scarlet red and royal blue have been popular choices when it comes to handbags, blazers, scarves, and shoes.  Being a fan of bright colors myself, I must give this look a kiss.  Nothing beats an all-black outfit with a bold pop of color.

7.Spider lashes were seen by major designers such as Gucci, Versace, Prada, etc, at New York Fashion Week. These overly emphasized lashes were most likely the collaboration of eyelash extensions, false lashes, and a ton of mascara. As a busy college student, who has the time to pull this look off in the morning as you roll out of bed from a long night of cramming? Because this bold beauty trend is simply impractical and a little too far-fetched for a day of classes, it would have to be a diss. Ladies, save your spider lashes for a special night out on the town.

No matter what trend you decide to pursue this season, whether subtle or bold, remember to put your own personal spin on them because trends will come and go; individualism is key! So go out there and rock your kissable looks!

Hey everyone! I'm Juls (yes, short for Julie), and I'm a junior biology major with a double minor in chemistry and mathematics at Adelphi University. I'm also a writer and the head of the editorial team for Her Campus Adelphi. I've been running for 6 years and am a (beginner) Bikram yoga junkie, so I guess you can say I'm also a fitness enthusiast. If I'm not out for a run or in the yoga studio, you can catch me volunteering at my local hospital, laughing with my friends while out for coffee, or tuning in for the latest episode of Dancing With the Stars. Feel free to say hi if you see me around; I'm most likely that girl with a pair of sunglasses on top of her head even if it's cloudy outside.
