Back to School Tips: Winter Edition

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Adelphi chapter.

Spring semester is finally here! We’ve been counting down the days to go back to school ever since we took our last final.  We finally get to wake up early and stay up late doing assignments!!! Just kidding…we all know we dread going back to school.  How are we expected to get back on schedule after having a month off?! Fear not Panthers! HCAU has you covered with some back to school tips this winter!

Dress in layers

For some reason, classrooms are always too hot or too cold.  It’s different everyday, so you can never dress appropriately! What are you gonna do if it’s freezing outside, but a sauna inside? Bundle up in layers! Scarves, cardigans, sweaters, jackets, etc. You’ll feel totally warm when you’re walking around campus, but you’ll be prepared for whatever the temperature is inside!

Set goals

During the first month of school take some time to write a list of goals you would like to achieve by the end of the semester. This will help motivate you and aid your transition from winter break to classes.  Hang the list where you can see it everyday to remind yourself not to give up!

Pack your boots

We never know what the weather holds, so it’s best to always have your boots out.  Rainboots, duck boots, snow boots, anything that’ll protect you from feeling cold and from slipping! We’re obsessed with cozy socks peeking out of the boots, but tailor the look to your liking.

Take a nap

It’s hard getting back on a decent sleep schedule and it’s very important to get some rest.  Either schedule in some free time or a time to nap so you can feel less tired and more relaxed.  Don’t get too stressed because you’re sleeping instead of doing work. Odds are you’d probably use that time to procrastinate anyway!!

Keep an icescraper in your car

This is more for the commuters on campus, but be sure to have the necessary tools in your car in case there is a snow storm! Some things you may want to include are an ice scraper, shovel, salt/sand, and anything else you might find useful during the snow.  If you happen to be in need of an icescraper and forgot yours at home, just remember that you can get them at the Panthertainment booth for free!

Utilize Spring Break

One of the best things about the Spring semester is Spring Break! While some people go to tropical areas, others choose to work or simply rest.  Make sure to use Spring Break in a way that’s most beneficial to you. If you want to make a little more cash then maybe you can pick up extra hours at work.  If you’re swamped with assignment then you should probably catch up on those.  Regardless of how you spend it, make sure you use the time off wisely!

What are some things that you do to get back into the swing of things? Send any tips or ideas our way :) Here’s to a great Spring Semester!
