13 Fun Things to do In the Fall

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Adelphi chapter.

1.    Eat anything and everything pumpkin flavored

Pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin bread, pumpkin pies, and pumpkin muffins. The list is endless and that’s exactly the way it should be. And since this is the only time of the year you can get these things it’s time to hit up your local Dunkin Donuts and eat as much as you can.

2.    Lounge about in all your comfy sweaters

Its time. Time to put away the cute summer dresses in favor of comfy, snuggly sweaters. No more worrying about tight clothes, sweaters love your curves and all your edges, all your perfect imperfections.

3.    Wearing boots again

Do I even need to elaborate on this? No more pedicures every week. No more jumping around puddles deeper than ½ an inch. No more stubbing your toe on everything. And you get to wear boots. Enough said.

4.    Going to corn mazes

Corn mazes are awesome. They are super fun to do with just about anyone and the overall atmosphere is always invigorating. And for the brave souls out there, there are haunted corn mazes.

5.    Going apple picking

Apples are wonderful. Apple orchards are wonderful. Not only do you get deliciously scrumptious apples but you can also get a billion and three instagram worthy pictures of you and your friends or family eating said apples in a beautiful apple orchard.

6.    Hay rides

So hay isn’t the most comfortable stuff to sit on. So what? Just the experience on a clear autumn of driving through a field on a tractor and smelling that crisp autumn air is just inexplicably delightful.

7.    Pumpkin carving

Jack-o-lanterns on jack-o-lanterns on jack-o-lanterns on jack-o-lanterns. Carving pumpkins is so much fun. And at the end not only do you get a sick jack-o-lantern BUT you can roast the pumpkin seeds, or if you want to get really fancy you can make real pumpkin pie. How awesome is that?

8.    Scary movie marathon

From Hocus Pocus to Friday the 13th, fall is the best time of the year for scary/Halloween movies. And don’t lie; we all know that you’ll be watching the old Disney Halloween movies like it is your job come October 1st.

9.    Just everything apple

Apple pies, apple turnovers, candy apples, apple cider, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera. Apples are magically delicious on their own and when you add other ingredients they are simply otherworldly.

10.  Leaf art

Step one: gather up all of your little cousins, neighbors, and friends and collect leaves. Step two: make adorable pictures with them. Step three: pause and appreciate the amazing time you are having. Step four: thank HerCampus for giving you this idea.

11. Halloween partyOk, stop what you’re doing, gather your squad, and plan a popping Halloween party. Costumes required. You know what? Plan more than one, plan around three; all with different themes. Be creative too. P.S stay away from the jungle juice. Far, far away.

12. Candy corn

Self-explanatory

13. Make a scarecrow

Get sticks, steal some guy clothes, borrow some hay, and get to work! You’ll probably need some sewing supplies and maybe markers or something–minor details. When you’re done just stick your lovely creation right in the middle of the front yard, or on your campus quad. It’ll be a major hit.
