We all have those moments when we see red carpet photo streams and just wish we had our own makeup artists to turn our faces into the masterpieces they have the potential to be. Well, it turns out you donât need to be a Val Garland or a Pac McGrath to make your face shine, in the good way of course.
Here in the HC weâve picked three glam looks you can master almost as easily as your ABCâs. Let us show you how.
Ah yes, the highly coveted âAdeleâ face. Cheeks sculpted to perfection and eyeliner on point. This makeup look, while looking extremely put-together, is fairly easy to achieve.
First youâre going to need a perfect base, preferably using a matte-finish foundation. Then comes the sculpt time. Grab yourself a matte bronzer (one with glitter could make the contour look less like a shadow and more like a… well, a glittery mess on your face), suck those cheeks in and DO NOT go wild. Yes, you want those cheekbones to look like Michelangelo has sculpted them himself, but itâs better to start with a light hand and less product as you can always add more. Also make sure not to take the contour line too close to the corners of your mouth, as thatâs going to make you look less Adele, more Corpse Bride. Using a smaller brush rather than those big fluffy ones made for powder helps you control where you place the product. My personal favourite is the Real Techniques contour brush, which is small, but also fluffy which helps with blending the product and making it look more natural on the skin.
Now onto the eyes. Adele has got a lot of lid space to work with, which makes it easier for her to rock that thick liner. With that being said, hooded eyes or not, if you like the look â try the look, Iâm sure youâre going to look fabulous anyways. Though very subtly, Adele has got her socket crease defined with a bit of eyeshadow. The best way to do this is to blend a shade close to your skin tone all over the lid, which poses as a base and makes all the blending easier. Then apply a middle brown shade, slightly darker than your skin tone and blend it all the way through your crease with a fluffy brush. You can use your matte bronzer for this! You can either leave it there, or define the crease even more by going in with a deeper shade of brown, keeping it in the outer corner of the crease. Blend, blend, blend with your fluffy brush. Here comes the dreaded bit: The Eyeliner. The plus side of this look is that itâs quite thick, so if you start out with a thin line, it doesnât have to be 100% polished and you can just carefully keep adjusting it to perfection. Have a cotton but handy in case you need to make a little adjustment. Since Adele doesnât seem to be sporting her legendary âflickâ, only keep the liner as far as your lashes go. If youâre unsure on the eyeliner grounds, get yourself one of those felt tip pen liners, as those are the easiest to use since youâre practiced in using similar ones for writing! Just keep the pen parallel to your lashes and go slow. Once done with the liner, take a bit of the darkest shade youâve put in your crease on a narrow brush and pop it under your lower lashes for a bit of subtle definition. Use a pearly shade to highlight your inner corners, put on some mascara and youâre good to go! If you want to take this everyday look to a higher level and stay true to the âexactâ Adele look, pop on some falsies, preferably thinner ones which get shorter towards the inner corner of the eye to keep the look natural.
Keep the lips natural and use a lipstick a shade darker than your lips. Again, matte is the key, and any lipstick can be turned matte if you tap a bit of transparent powder on top!
And there you are, ready to go call your ex to say that youâre sorry for all the things that youâve done.
