This week I got the chance to talk to my fabulous friend, flatmate, and our new vice-social secretary, Emily Blower! Let’s find out a little bit more about her.

HC: So first things first, why did you decide to move so far away from home? Especially to Aberdeen?

EB: Mostly because it was far away from home, which sounds terrible, but it’s nice to be away from it all. I do really like Aberdeen as a city, even though it’s grey most of the time! I love the fact that it is close to the beach, in fact, that was one of my main requirements when I was considering my university choices!

HC: Well there is nothing better on a nice day than going down to the beach, even if nice days are rare in Aberdeen! So what made you choose Psychology as your degree, and what do you want to do at the end of university life?

EB: I chose it because I find it so interesting that so many different things can go on in someone’s brain. I’d really like to go work with children after uni, which will be hard but very rewarding!

HC: You go girl! What a great goal. So why don’t we talk some HC. What did you enjoy most about Her Campus last year?

EB: I had a really nice time at the socials and the planning process behind them. It’s nice seeing all the hard work pay off! To take a step back and watch everyone enjoy themselves knowing you’ve had something to do with that is very rewarding.

HC: I love that feeling too! What are you most looking forward to doing this year?

Emily: I can’t wait for Halloween! The whole idea of dressing up as whatever you want for one night is so much fun, and seeing everyone else in their costumes is great.

HC: Halloween is a great holiday! What are you thinking of dressing up as this year?

EB: Not actually sure, I went as Hermione last year so I could reuse that costume this year? Maybe I’ll be boring this year and be a cat!

HC: You could never be boring Emily! So, you were Hermione last year, that must mean you like a bit of Harry Potter?

Emily: Of course, who doesn’t love HP! I might just be a bit more obsessed than others! I’ve read all the books and watched all the films, which are nothing compared to the books. Just saying…

HC: Well people do say a movie is never as good as the book! So, last question – what did you think about the new Harry Potter book?

Emily: Ahh, why did you ask me that? I don’t know how to put into words how I felt about it. I disliked it as another Harry Potter book, but liked it as it gave me the same thrill I had growing up reading the original Harry Potter books. I wish it was its own book, rather than another in the Harry Potter series.

Thank you for taking the time to talk to us Em. Can’t wait to work with you this year!
