Elle Woods Appreciation

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Aberdeen chapter.

Everyone knows the blonde bombshell from Legally Blonde, and despite the film being released originally in 2001, I still relate to Elle Woods everyday (and not just because I am a fellow lawyer).

I believe Elle is someone that everyone can look up to.

Elle is resilient! A quality that we all could learn from. As soon as Harvard law is in her sights, she doesn’t give up. This is a quality that is great when chasing your dreams, no matter what the motives are. Elle is determined not to let anything get in her way. Harvard Law – here she comes!

Also, Elle is a great friend. When she meets her new friend Paulette, when she moves to Boston, she soon displays great qualities of friendship and ultimately gets Paulette her dog back! Paulette’s partner kept their dog when he dumped her, and Elle uses her lawyer skills to get the dog back! Elle also teaches Paulette the Bend and Snap, which is great fun to try (I highly recommend). Everyone needs a friend like that!

Elle also does revenge in the best way possible! Not by losing weight or making people jealous, but proving everyone wrong! By the end of the film, Elle realises that the man who she first went to Law School to be with, is not the right guy after all!

In Legally Blonde 2, Elle is working at a very respectable law firm, but decides to try to make animal testing for cosmetics illegal. We get to see Elle in a working office and the all-mighty Snap Cup! Furthermore, we realise just how much of a friend to the animals Elle really is!

Elle is a bright young woman who never lets her achievements be limited by what anyone thinks of her! She is my ultimate role model!
