There’s no question that Donald Trump gets a lot of hate. But Kathy Griffin, a comedian and writer, may have gone a little too far in displaying her resentment toward the president. Griffin, along with photographer Tyler Shields, put together an incredibly gruesome collection of photos that showed her wielding a prop fashioned to look like Trump’s bloody head.
Twitter blew up with criticism from both sides of the aisle and Trump himself.

However, Griffin and Shields knew this photo shoot would spark controversy, as evidenced in a behind-the-scenes video Shields shared but later took down. Although Griffin is known for her attention-grabbing comedy, it seems she didn’t intend to offend this many people. According to CNN, Griffin released a video apology on Tuesday. “I’m a comic,” Griffin explained. “I cross the line. I move the line, then I cross it. I went way too far. The image is too disturbing. I understand how it offends people. It wasn’t funny. I get it.”
Not only did she ask Shields to take the photos down, but she also asked the public to forgive her. “I beg for your forgiveness,” she pleaded in the video. “I went too far, I made a mistake and I was wrong.” If you ask us, it seems like she really is regretful, but Donald Trump Jr. seems to think otherwise.
The #kathygriffin phony apology would be a lot easier to believe if there wasn’t a video of her mocking the response she knew was coming.
